vegetarian alternatives?

Guys I know meat is best but just wondred what do you vegetarians do for protein, apart from Protein shakes of course..

I understand that soya bean and lentils are a great source but does anyone have anything or any ideas for something more tasty??

Thanks for any suggestions!

Before eating any soy, you may want to check out T-mag. I've read several articles on there proclaiming soy as one of the worst food choices out there. Give it a look if you would like.

Tofu, protein shakes, veggie burgers, eggs (if you eat them), nuts (high in fat), beans (black..etc)...

And of course lots of dairy if you're into that (cottage cheese and whey come to mind). Wheat gluten is also yummy and high in protein.

To correct diamondiceclay for about the millionth time, soy shows mainly ANTI-estrogenic properties in humans. Don't be afraid of soy, especially soy protein isolate. Don't read that T-mag junk. If you choose to read that T-mag junk, then please email me for some real research rather than T-mag's sensationalist butchering of the science. Whole fat tofu can be pretty high in fats though, so that's something to watch.

agree with MS: soy IS good, even for BBers (don't abuse though)

By combining different vegetal protein sources you can have a good quality proteins (in term of BV/PER/PDCAAS)

ie: beans + rice
or lentils + rice (I am not sure)

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I am trying to stick to my CKD at the moment which means I am only taking shakes with veggies and avoiding all carbos including rice, though on Sundays I will carb up with bread...man do I miss cakes!!
