Var + Primo ?

Ok, just a quick question. Is there an advantage to running Var and Primo as opposed to say just a regular Var cycle or primo only cycle? A friend of mine is talking about doing this and I'm trying to figure out why? Would they be synergistic? Do they work on different pathways? Why would someone say to do this?
