Using Testosterone to Treat Anxiety/Depression

I have really bad anxiety and depression and am also on HRT at 100mg ew of Test. The best I have ever felt was when i was doing high dose cycles of around 500mg ew. The docs got me on klonopin and depression meds and i dont wanna be addicted to them for the rest of my life. ive already started tapering them down and was thinking about asking my doc today about upping my test doasge in an attempt to treat the anxiety and depression what are your thoughts?

i think its a great idea bro. i always feel like a million bux when on test. i would do the same if i were u, its better than being addicted to abunch of scripts.

To my knowledge, male hormones aren't approved for such threatment in the US.

:cow:

In my experience the positive effects of high testosterone dosages don't last forever.

After about 10 weeks things go back to normal. It makes sense; your body always adapts.

i would try and find out what the anxiety and depression is from mate.. trouble at home, sick of your job, family dramas.. etc.. its good your slowly getting off the prescription drugs but dont up the dose of your test till you know whats going on..

I heard test does help, but doesn't last. You need to figure out what physically or emotionally your anx/depression is caused from.

I feel your pain cause I suffer from both.

i agree with others here. find out what it's from. upping the dose will only last a while, and then when you drop back down the depression will be worse. stick to the dose your at and try to get treatment other than medication such as a counselor or psych. i get anxiety at bedtime, i take .25mg of xanax and sleep good all night, if i don't i can't sleep and i get panic attacks. taking the xanax doesn't bother me however. i've been taking it for years and although everyones paranoid about addiction and this and that i never have gotten addicted to it or needed higher doses except when flying in an air plane, hehe, had to take 1mg washed down with some beer for that, good times :)

i have battled anxiety and depression for many years. higher test levels will help some but you can't stay on high levels forever, and from my own experience whenever you come off it makes your anxiety and depression worse.

Anxiety: definite no. Test actually increases anxiety and causes insomnia.
You may get addicted to klonopin (benzodiazepine) but not to antidepressants.
Depression is not a weakness of personality or lack of motivation; it is imbanalance in neurotransmitters.
Test can't really treat or reverse neurotransmitter imbalance.
Considering everything, I will not treat depression with test. What will happen when you end your cycle?
There are essentially no long term complications of SSRIs. Other than sexual side effects, they don't have any significant other side effects.
Let's face it: test does have short term and long term side effects.

I agree.

Low T will cause depression and elevating it will improve mood. But if you're on, increasing the dosage will do nothing.

i hope ur not lowering your medication doses on your own.if u taper the meds u must do it under doc supervisiom
n.and i would not be adding anything else or change your doseing pattern with trt at a time when ur meds are not stable.test is great but not long term.if u up test its only a short fix.ssri treat chemical imbalances in your brain,so if ur depressed u need it.its nothing to be ashamed of.im on seroquel 400mg ed at nite and lexapro 30mg ed morning..also on trt cyp 200mg e 2 weeks.i tried once to come off the deppresion meds myself like u and got all fucked up.so b careful

well i would have to say i think that bumping up the test is not your answer although it may work for a while i myself and others have experianced the opposite ffect even with a good PCT i have foud mysef suffereing from serious depression form too much test i dont know if its common but i know others that have had problms with it i would recomend getting off the off the anti depressants your on ad go with the natural ways using SAMe is defintly going to help throw some 5-HTP in there and maybe even some st. johns wort i take all on a consistant basis and it has really helped out the three together work great to raise serotonin levels (your happy hormone you know the one shrooms makes highly available for a night of good times lol) if you want more on this man let me know i can dose it out for you and break down how the herbs work together and individually in your body i highly recomend them for you!

thats true, i have depression and severe anxiety and insomnia, and im on 550mgs test 250mgs deca

I have also suffered from depression and anxiety since I was about 14 years old. I believe a lot of it is down to imbalances in neurotransmitters and such, as I can't really complain about my lifestyle. Hell, I'm just grateful for what I've got....a lot of people have got it much, much worse than me.

I think the answer isn't increasing testosterone. If you're gonna do AAS and have problems with depression or anxiety, then it's probably better to stick with shorter cycles (maybe 8 weeks max) and lower doses.
This to me would make sense because if, for example, you go and do a 10 week cycle on something like a 1g of test EW...it's gonna be much harder for the body to recover when you come off. You're hormones are gonna be all over the place during PCT and for a few weeks after due to the massive changes in test levels. So this is gonna make you feel worse.

The answer IMO is to stick to modest cycles where you're not gonna put your body out of balance too much.

I think there should be studies ran on this. I think it could help most men totally avoid most depression.

Agreed. I had same issue back in 2000. I have been on Effexor XR ever since. I was suffering from low serotonin. It's just a chemical imbalance. Easy to fix.
But not with more test. Stay at your HRT level. And be sure to use you HCG.
Go see a pysch. and try the SSRI's/ SSNI's. You might be as amazed as I was. Lots of Bro's have this problem. The shit REALLY works.

test does have side effects, but so do the antidepressants. when you come off them you get insane withdrawal symptoms which i have experienced myself. doc took blood work again and said if my levels are still low he'll bump up the test to 200mg ew since ive had low levels all my life.
