A friend of mine once told me the only use for a cat is to use a dead cat to get the right kind of decomposing bacteria for starting a septic tank. Recently in the news, it was reported that a concentration of anthrax spores less than 1/100th that to afflict a human would cause a cat to get the disease -- hence, their equivalancy to a canary in a coal mine for detecting gas.
I am curious what other interesting uses for cats there are other than their use as household companion animals, or to control rodents. If you feel like straying from the title of the thread, you can profile cat owners vs dog owners, and how cats and dogs serve their respective needs. Let's try to be funny on this one.
