UPS Warning

New member
Anyone using UPS should be warned they are instructed to open packages randomly due to the code orange or whatever it is. I've heard of one source that's already had a big problem because of it. Just figured I would give a heads up. I would assume other mail carriers will take simular measures. - josh

UPS is private orgainization... they don't need warrants to open anything. :)

C-ditty

C-ditty is right there are private and do NOT need a warrant neither does Fed-ex. UPS does however need a warrent unless it's coming thru customs. Though this doesnt make much sense since we were in code orange a month ago for awhile also. Didnt hear anything about it then??

You mean USPS needs a warrent.:)

ups

I have no idea why this is only coming up now. It is supposed to be random, so maybe it just happened randomly. All I can tell you is what I heard, and I know it's reliable info.

I doubt it. I work for UPS, and I can tell you that we don't have the goddamn time to sit there and randomly open packages. You forget how time-critical everything is for this company. The only time we open packages is when they are leaking or damaged and need to be repacked. I have not seen a single incident of a package being opened that contained drugs.

That makes sense... good inside info bro--

I went to ups and shipped the other day. Nothing illegal, so no worries, but their sign said ALL packages will be opened and inspected at the time of shipping. They didn't open mine or anybody elses in line, but they are advertising their intentions to do so. It may have been an old sign still taped to the counter from 9/11 for all I know.

yeah they dont have time, a friend works there, Also, as mentioned the only ones that DO need a warrant are the USPS.

I dont believe it

UPS makes their workers work like hebrew slaves, Between scanning the packages, loading them so the shit dont fall all over the place, and getting them out, I dont see how they would have the time. They are so time orientated it isnt even funny.

I also worked for fed-ex about a year ago and while a package is in route we definately didnt have time to open up shit randomly. When ur loading 500-800 boxes an hr a package could have roids written right on it and id still load it up. What surprises me is that boxes dont get punctured and its contents revealed. But i guess as long as your sources packages well ur fine. and above I did mean USPS.

As C-ditty will attest, the USPS is run by the USA government and thereby constrained to the United States Constitution (no unreasonable search and seizure) . The U.S. constitution does not apply to private entities. It only protects you from the government. Congress would have to enact a law for it to be illegal for a private carrier like UPS to open your package. Of course, a private carrier could warrant not to open your package, whereby you would have a breach of contract claim if they opened it. But what would your damages be? C-ditty, expound on the legalities involved, my brotha.

I heard the best way to order through the mail is one as at a time this way the boxes ae smaller and less curious. A 6x6 box to a 15x10 if you were a customs agent which would you be more concerned for bombs?
