Update on everybodys Training.

I just wanna know how everybody's training is going for them.
Whats your max rep for the SQ, BP, DL?

FREAK19

Dropped a sofa bed on my foot (i was being rushed though the house and hit my hand on a doorframe and dropped the sofa)

I can walk properly (i think i have fractured something....but my foot is blue and shit,i am using a cane) but standing on 4inch blocks i pulled
10kgs (22lbs) more than the last time i pulled from that low.(about a month ago)

my accessories have all gone up....except my bradford(rainbow) press....i think its time to move back to dumbell raises.

I was stalled on the "floor press" and havent made a PR for about 6 weeks. Finally put 10lbs on it....smoked it easy

Training is going okay. I'm no longer having lower back pumps (holding water) so my lower body training is picking back up. My upper body training (heavy pressing) is hindered by severe tendonitis in my forearms. It comes and goes and I deal with it the best I can.

As far as max reps, I really don't know. I won't know until I compete in a 3-lift meet which will probably be in Sept/Oct. I have a bench meet in early July and I hope to hit at least 475 but really want to surpass the 500 mark. It may need a few more months to hit the 500. If I were to speculate where my squat and deadlift are I would say squatting right at 700 and deadlifting around 650 but these would be in competition and in full gear.

I'm dropping weight pretty quickly and if I lose much more I'm going down to the 275's. I will be a mean, lean, clean, lifting-machine in the 275's.

funny you should ask.....

i wish i had a video but we were alone for speed day.

i dropped the bands out of the speed squat today and just took 50% of projected max for 8 sets, fast. my back was already lit up from this tuesday's ME good morning, but I said the hell with it and went up for some singles afterwards.

well, i got squashed like a bug with 700 on my box, and bent my bar even further when i dropped it off my back. like i said, i wish i had taped today.

am i depressed??? no, actually i am pretty damn happy. i am approaching my best ever box squat (700lbs) and this is AFTER 8 sets of speed.

countdown to meet: 22 days.

will keep everyone posted.

Freak,

These are basically estimates, because I won't know for absolute sure until my next meet in July with Screwball.

Squat 600-650
Bench 530-550
Deadlift 450ish

Pretty shitty numbers and now you can see why I compete bench only. I may be the world's worst deadlifter, not sure, but close.

Training for bench is going great. Could not be any better. Getting stronger every week, am able to keep weights far heavier than my max in the groove, lockout strength seems to be really good as well. Weighing about 225 at the moment and will lift at 218 or so in July.

B.

Screwball,
Your not gonna max untill the day of the meet? Those are some good numbers even if they are geared up. What kind of equipment do you use for all three?

IrishPower,
What meet are you doing? And what are your goals for the meet?
Good Luck.

FREAK19

Benchmonster,
What meet are you and screwball doing?

No offense but they always say benchers make the worst deadlifters.

freak:

west coast open in oregon. supposedly brent mikesell is gonna be there and try 1100lbs on the squat. should be inspiring.

i wont spout numbers anymore. i've learned that is a bad idea :) my number one goal is to total and not injure myself. this will be my first time back to a 3 lift meet in 5 years.

i consider this my stepping stone back to senior nats!

discussing plans with wife to move to florida in the next 3 years or so. when i move, i am going to open a powerlifting dungeon. my best training partner just did in atlanta. i want to do the same.

dont you guys go moving away on me!

/irish

Well first off I understand why you wont tell everyone your numbers. but anyways good luck. and have fun.

also, i know i dont plan on moving anytime soon. i like it here.

Freak,

No offense taken. I would like to be good at deadlifting, I am just not built for it. I would like to be good at basketball, too, but that ain't in the cards either.

You being quite good at both, are a freak indeed, because for most, they are good at one and suck at the other.

I have only been powerlifting for 11 months now, and my partners tell me that I may still be able to come up with a decent deadlift, but it is just lagging. I think, that I just don't have the body for it. But I have a decent bench, and it is getting better all the time. And thankfully they have bench only meets.

B.

Sorry, I forgot to tell you what meet we are doing. We are dong Kim Brownfield's Bench on the Beach, in Eufala, Oklahoma. Best bench meet in the midwest. It is done outside, right on the beach, there will be between 2,000, and 3,000 people there. There will be a bikini contest after the benching is over.

Kim has benched over 600 at both 220 and 242. Jason Jackson has gone over 600 at 242 a couple of times, they will be the two best ones at the meet most likely. Both are WABDL world champions, Kim holding the world record in both 220 and 242. There will be a ton of 500 plus benchers there, and some hot bods in bathing suits (hopefully just women).

Anyone within driving distance should try and make it. A ton of fun.

B.

In my opinion, you can't hit a real max unless you're in competition. I need that psyche to really push myself. My competition lifts will always be bigger than my gym lifts. I think you could compare me to Jimmy Dean. I train Westside up until the meet and then just estimate my attempt numbers and go from there. You don't truely know what you can do until you do it. This is very good for me mentally because I don't set limitations on myself. It's definitely not for everyone though.

The equipment I use in competition:

Squat - Double Champion, Inzer Knee Wraps, Inzer Wrist Wraps, 13mm Double-prong belt

Bench - Double Denim (Karen's), Inzer Wrist Wraps, 13mm Double-prong Belt, Standard Navy Singlet

Deadlift - Double Champion, Inzer Wrist Wraps, 13mm Double-prong Belt

I'm want to get some Titan briefs, a Hardcore or Titan Boss and a 13mm Lever Belt. I also want to try an Erector Shirt out. Anyone have suggestions on equipment?

Freak, I have the opposite build of Benchmonsters, and consequently, I am all pull no push.

Have not maxed all year. Was going to compete for the first time in eight years, but was too busy with other things, including son's competition, graduation, etc.

Did hit a PR box squat, 700, off of a 10" box. BW 265 at the time.

Shoulder has been bothering me. This resulted in me missing several max effort attempts in a row the last five bench workouts.

Can't have everything.

When I do get around to competing, in December no matter what, I will use the same gear I used last time, just to see how I compare to the old me.

Inzer single ply squat suit, gold line wraps, lever belt. That's it.

FREAK19

Well I don't normally answer these threads......mainly because I end up eating large portions of humble pie hehehe.....but Iwill this time. These are my best lifts in the last 6 months or so (for what its worth, no equipment except chalk).

Bodyweight: 198
Squat: 440ish
Bench: 385ish
Deadlift: 550

These numbers are down a bit on what they were......long uninteresting story....so I wont bore you.

This only puts me 400 or so pounds below Elite lol.....mebbe its time I got some equipment....and somebody to help me put it on!!

Training has been going good.
BW- 136
Age-14
SQ-315
BP-195
DL 360

my bench has been stuck for a little bit so it sucks

Let's start with the squat:
I had switched my squatting a few months ago over to wide stance low box squats. My max went down to 265 but I was well below parallel (11 inch box). I was able to increase my max by about 40 lbs. over a 3 month period to about 305. My hamstings and especially my ass got much bigger and my quads seemed to shrink. Anyway, I changed my stance to be much narrower and after 3 workouts, my squat is 355 and there has been a noticable increase in the size of my quads (not that I care but I'm just making an observation. My ass getting bigger does concern me though).

Bench press:
I did a pause bench in a shirt of 255 about 1 1/2 months ago. 2 weeks ago, I was doing wide grip bench presses with bands with 215 when on my 4th rep, the weight shifted upwards towards my neck and I felt a nasty pain in my right shoulder. Monday I warmed up and was going to do speed benches with 135 but it was too painful so I quit and decided to rest it some more. I had to baby that shoulder before and I'm afraid I may have really fucked it up this time.

Deadlift:
I don't do it much. I worked up to 345 X 3 reps about 1 month ago.

Height , weight and age:
5'9" 220 37

I started lifting again last year after a 19 year layoff. It is unbelievably harder to increase strength now compared to being a teenager. My best lifts as a 17 year old at 165 lbs. were 405, 255 and 385 all raw.

Well, right now I am pretty burnt out and messed up my training a bit for this meet(June 15th), but I have 7 days off from the weights now, so I should be looking to tear shiat up at the meet.

Gym lifts look as follows:

bodyweight- 148-152
squat- 365 Single poly Champion, Inzer knee wraps, belt
bench- 255 Inzer single poly EHPHD
Dead- 450 Belt only

For my meet:

Bodyweight- 146-148 (148 class)
My squat is really fooked up. I watched a tape of me trying to hit my opener and it was the ugliest thing I ever saw. I am actually going too low if that's possible and my form breaks down at the bottom. If I hit the right spot, it's smooth sailing. Squat form will need huge improvement after this meet. Next full meet will most likely be December, so I'll have some time.

Bench- Feeling pretty confident about bench going in. I will smoke my opener like cake. Then on the second I'll most likely hit the 255 again, if not 250. We'll see how I feel. I have always been a weak bencher, so this is improvement for me.

Deads- Don't you just love deads?? I am going to pull conventional at this meet. In March I pulled sumo in the non-sanctioned meet I did. I was very fatigued by then and didn't pull well. I notice now I feel fresher in the conventional stance after wide squats, plus my best pull of 450 was done conventional. This time around I am going to make sure to eat some snacks throughout soI don't totally crash by the time deads come around. That is my lift and it is where will do the most damag adhave the most fun. I'm hitting a PR at this meet. Nuff said.

The meet don't start 'til the bar hits the floor!

After this meet I am going to eat until it hurts and then eat some more. I am not going to check my weight until about 6 weeks or so before the December meet and then just decide what class to be in. I'd like to gain about 30 lbs between now and then. I am very small for my weight class IMO. I need more mass. Even if it means bulking for a few years and gaining a ton of size/strength and the dieting back down to a lighter class and ripping shiat up. So, my strength should go up nice in my training for the next 6 months or so because my body has been deprived of the necessary calories to grow.

Dont know how my training is going. I havent trained in three weeks! Iam ready to train again. Just got home from a bench meet but i will start a thread for that.

Don't know recently but

In March at a 176BW I pulled 425lbs. (belt only)
In FEB I squatted @ 173lbBW 365lbs(raw)
In April benched 270 @ 180lbBW, yesterday I did a 4 board with 300 so I'm guessing I bench 300 now I know for sure if I can lockout the weight from a 5 board even I can bench it. (raw)

BW right now 193 so i'm guessing these lifts are up and I don't plan on testing all 3 of them anytime soon. maybe if I know for sure I'm doing a meet I will.

These are my best PR's...I don't have any gear.

BP: 427
SQ: No idea
DL: 629

Damn B, why don't you hit a few powerlifting meets? You've got the numbers to finish at the top of your weight class. I don't think it would hinder your strongman training. I believe these are two strength sports that complement each other very well. Hit that lifting platform!

Most strongmen find that they do hinder each other greatly. The more events that I do, the less my big 3 lifts grow. My bench has suffered greatly as I have switched to a lot more overhead work (reps suck too...lol).

I would like to do one in the future, but at 285 pounds...my lifts aren't that impressive.

Thank you very much though....

everybodys lifts are looking good. Some people on here have a negative attitude towards there numbers. I dont understand that. alot of you just started lifting, or just started powerlifting, well guys, rome wasnt built in one day. Just give it time and you will hit it and your numbers will get there. as long as your making PR's and being smart about it, if its in a meet or not. Make your goals realistic and you achieve them. Good Luck in everybody's training.

FREAK19

been powerlifting for 3 weeks so far..all of these raw gym lifts..

BW: 180
Age: 21
BP: 230
SQ: 300
DL: 400

I want to get my numbers up so bad so I can compete and consider myself a real "powerlifter".. I guess I need more time..

My lifts follow:

bench 315 (done a couple of weeks back)
squat almost to 600
DL was in the 600s. Now I cannot pickup the bar. My right
bicep is shot thanks to a DL competition this past weekend.

I want to get my numbers up so bad so I can compete and consider myself a real "powerlifter".. I guess I need more time..

Who cares what you lift, go ahead and compete. The first few meets are learning experiences anyway. People will support you if you total 300 or if you total 2000.

Go and learn.

Best lifts are as follows:
sq 711
bp 512
dl 661
total 1857 -- which should have been at least 1907 but I got called high with a 733sq(bastards:))

im gonna try and get some videos... i 'll just capture them from my dads video camera w/ my video card, and upload them to my website. IRBD will have some pics too(he's competing too).
Im just really concerned w/ the squat depth.. damn usapl.

Screwball -- I lift in the 242's. Elite at 242 is 1890. I got a little greedy at my last meet on the squat and should have only taken 717 to gaurantee my elite because I was pretty sure I would hit at least the 512lb and a 660 min pull. My stupidity is the reason I do not have my elite total yet but it will be done at my next meet.

Hey guys I thought or was under the impression ELITE was when you total 2,000 no matter what weight class.

Since it's not like that from 165,181,198,220 what are ELITE totals for those weight classes, anyone know????

Go to elitefts.com Cubanito, they have an article entitled What is Elite? It gives elite numbers for all weight classes.

Very few ever hit Elite. It really means something special. 1-Dawg, that is some strong liftin!!!

B.

Thanks for the link guys I shoulda thought about going there. I'm hoping thats a long term goal to TOTAL ELITE. I have another goal too but I know it's a really long term goal and i just have to want it bad enough to get it. That's break the highest deadlift record out there.

Here you go freak:

Weight
Class 114 123 132 148 165 181 198 220 242 275 SHW

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Elite 1064 1157 1246 1394 1527 1642 1731 1824 1890 1946 2033
Master 981 1064 1146 1279 1400 1505 1593 1675 1736 1786 1857
Class 1 882 953 1025 1152 1257 1350 1422 1505 1554 1598 1670
Class 2 777 838 904 1009 1102 1190 1257 1323 1367 1411 1472
Class 3 672 733 788 887 965 1036 1097 1157 1196 1229 1279
Class 4 590 639 689 772 838 904 953 1003 1047 1075 1119

So as of now I can choose one of 3 classes to take elite in and what I plan on doing really is taking ELITE in 4 classes. I'm gonna make my goals to take it in 181, 198, 220, 242. I know the 181 will be first to come and then in order, BUT I know I can keep my weight down if I really want. I lost 10lbs in one day to make weigh ins when I was 175 for a 165 weight class.

Thanks for the post 1-dawg I found that same one over on elitefts at least everyone else can see it here.

For those that have totaled ELITE, WAY TO GO!!!!!
