I don't want to alarm you, But. I have some experience with wound care (physical therapy).. and I do recall someone wait and wait until something like this became too bad to postpone anymore. Diagnosis- he had a severe infection. Treatment- cut the outside open and use hydraspray and swabs to clean out the inside. Apply a medication (which actually clears the necrotic "dead" tissue) and pack with and special packing material. Oh and clean and change every day til it was better. It started about 1/2inch diameter 1 inch deep (yes) and got bigger before it healed, with scare tissue. I would go to hospital, But that is just me.
That's why i like working with computers instead... easier on the stomach.
