What? Sorry needtogetas, but I can barely understand that....

I think there's pros and cons to the evolution of the UFC. Mostly positive, though.

Having fighters not have 3 to 4 fights in one night is a good thing, IMO. A fighter can come to the ring and give everything he has, knowing he only has one fight, win or lose.

The matched weight divisions make for more even fights...but you have to admit some of the matches from the first couple of UFCs were hilarious!

It's come along way from what it was; in fact, it's elevated from a spectacle into a professional sport.

it was also really boring back then to. How bout those fights with the guys on the ground for 30 mins. BORING

(1) Yes boring to the untrained-

(2) The only rules were no eye gouge and no bite-

Of course they had to change it to keep making a profit and I'm sure it is better in many ways.

But as long as we're entitled to an opinion then mine is that it now sucks LOL :)

It is now the ultimate "UFC" fighter because "UFC" or "MMA" is basically now it's very own style of fighting.

It is is no way a demonstration of the ultimate in martial arts, it is professional fighting just like boxing, kick-boxing or MT but with different rules.

AND now MOST martial arts are no longer represented in the UFC

every sport evolves to a certain degree. The fighters no longer strictly represent one particular style and are more in the MMA mold than strict practicioners of Karate, Kung Fu, Judo, BJJ, etc.

The current management of the UFC has added a businesspersons sense to 'cage fighting' and it has worked to broaden the appeal of the sport.

even PRIDE has gotten away from their grand prix style and has tournament fights seperated by a couple of months between opening bouts and the finals.

The weight classes actually leveled the playing field somewhat and made it more marketable. I actually believe there should be another weight class added - Super Heavyweight for those over 250#. As it stands now anyone over 205 is classified as heavyweight and that is too broad a weightclass IMO.

Was that really the case? Im suprised we didnt see more groin attacks, fighters spitting, vomiting or throwing excrement at each other.
