Men marry the best looking woman they can afford.
Women marry the richest man they can seduce.

it might be a little different up in Canada

I went to a pretty wealthy private school and certainly saw more that a couple golddiggers, but what blew me a away both at school and at the yaght club i worked at was the amount of insanely wealthy short fat ugly guys, with extremely bitchy short fat ugly wives you bossed them around.
i guess they probably have mistresses or wahtever though

the real truth is...

A man marries a woman, hoping she will never change...
A woman marries a man, hoping she can change him.

Rarely does either party get what they are hoping for.

there are always exceptions, but I have seen this happen so many times...

lmao @ money

I've been supporting myself since I was old enough to work, I'll keep doing that until im dead. No man will ever have to worry about me wanting him for his money.

Regardless of the replies on here, this statement is borne out in every single poll and survey ever done. Number one thing men look for in a mate? Looks. Number one thing women look for in a mate? Money.

Every time.

then once youre there, you realize that none of that matters at all. And you re-define what it is you're looking for....

I make my own money and have done so since i was 16. if o was going to marry for money i would've married the man i was engaged to when i was 20 -24.

i make my own.. im looking for attraction and love

among my friends, its more like:

men marry the girl they were banging and telling everyone about
women marry the men they finally relented and went on a date with

personally im marrying the highest bidder. i already had an offer for a house here, 2 houses in greece, a herd of goats and 4 chickens, but that was before i started cutting, so i think i can do better

besides, id have to spend too much on diamond tipped razorblades for the filthy animal.

scammers. never trust a greek bearing a fat daughter

I couldn't marry for money. There's not a monetary value on my happiness. And if I can't be with someone I feel at home with, who I can just snuggle up to and spend an evening just enjoying one another while relaxing, then why be with someone?

If you find the right person, the idea of anyone else or any amount of stuff is a joke compared to what you have.

I'm the same way. I just bought a COOP by myself with my OWN money. I plan to keep it even if I ever get married again. I never want to find myself in the same situation as last time. When I wanted to leave my ex...I had no where to go. That will never happen again.

There's more of a chance of a man using me for my money than vice versa at this point in my life. I am very proud of that. : )

that is true in many cases for sure, but its often times a lot more complicated then that.

i say a lot of silly things.. but i'm really a deep thinker.. :)

Excellent post. If you marry someone expecting to change anything about them, you're in for a rude awakening.

youre only saying that because youve never been offered a big herd of goats

hater

I wouldn't trade someone I have for goats. Not even lots of goats and 4 oxen.
oh i see. youre one of those kinky donkey lovers ;)

donkeys are expensive, Raina. i mean, *I* think youre worth it, but thats 'cause i like youre personality ;)

While I wouldn't seek out an UGLY guy, looks are far from everything. And much less important then money. There I said it! No one wants to date/marry a broke ass guy. I don't want to sit at home and eat bon bons while they work, I have job and I make decent money, but I'd rather marry someone who was financially secure (not rich, just secure) then someone beautiful and broke.

Irrelevant. What were his prospects at the time? I would say you saw future potential for income. Kind of like buying a stock when it is low and knowing it will rise. Women do this all the time, including the one i am currently with.

When my wife & I married she was 3 wks out of high school. No money making prospects. Well, except for the obvious one, pervs. I was in the army 2 yrs & as a tanker I had no marketable skills, unless I chose an army career.
All we had were a desire to be together. Workin good so far. BTW, she'll be making more than me soon.

Finally an honest answer.

I've already played the "I have it all" game with "have it all" defined by what is sterotypically pursued. From the outside I have it all. And it's all empty.

I'll second that too :worried: . It's a horrible feeling to look at your life and think "I have everything that I could want and it all means nothing." It happens to me sometimes, especially right now. But isn't all empty, you have yourself and that means something.

If that financially secure guy hit some bad times and was all of sudden broke ass guy (but had the drive to build himself back up, would you stay and work with him as a partner (support him if you had too)?

I couldn't handle being with someone who didn't want to work. I don't care if they make a lot of money but it's a HUGE turnoff to me to not be a driven person. Have goals. Work your ass off. Pursue your passions. That's how I am.

Of course I would stay and I would do what I had to do for him but I would expect him to be trying to get things back together. Just as he would expect of me.

My initial statement is *of course* true

It's just that for some people it's an unconscious process

sorry to brake your vision that all women are the same, but I just liked him for who he was.
