This is my first post. I've been reading this forum for months and have gotten lots of great info (thanks everybody) so I thought I'd return the favor with an account of my recent trip to Tijuana.
I stopped first at the granero's listed as authorized dealers on the Ttykko web site, and found much of their gear to be overpriced (at least in my mind). The **********site says that Ttykkyo Testenon 250 inthe 5ml size (BTW, nobody carried the 10 ml size) is supposed to go for around $20., but at the Granero El A****** they wanted $27. I tried to negotiate, but he just got pissy. THe clerks had a real bad attitude towards gringos, so I got mad and left.
Half an hour later, I was on Revolution Blvd. getting a lesson in how to choose tequila (this clerk was actually pouring me shots in tiny little medicine cups). Anyway, this guy seemed cool, so I struck up a conversation with him, dropped some hints about what I was looking for, and he said that none of the locals use those graneros in the tourist district because they are there to gouge the tourists. He went on to say that there are countless little graneros within a short walk of Revolution, and turned me on to the one where he buys food for his dogs. I started hoofing it west allong Calle Segundo (2nd street) and about twenty minutes later, came upon El Granero *****************, and they had the same stuff at at the official distrubutors, same hard-plastic shrink wrap packaging and hologram. There they were asking $20 for the 5 ml of Ttykko sus. The clerk had an attitude, too, (what is is with these guys?) so I though, what the fuck, and offered him $70 for four bottles and he accepted. I also got amassive bottle of Laurobolin 2500 ml for $45!
I then started walking back towards Revolution, this time along 3rd street, and came across yet another hole-in-the-wall granero just one block south of the the first one, and they had the same gear, but not as good a selection.
Anyway, I guess my point is that the further you get from the tourist areas, the cheaper the gear is, and if you're buy a lot, you can save a bundle.
BTW, these shots hurt like a bitch. Next time I'm thinking about loading a syringe, pulling off the pin, and popping it in the microwave for a minute or so to see if I can cook off some of that alcohol. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Think it will hurt the potency?
