I've been battling a nasty cold and haven't lifted for about 4-5 days...

Mentally I'm stressed about not lifting, but physically I'm still not sure I'm ready to get back in the gym. (Went for a small walk/jog yesterday and felt like crap afterwords.)

What do you good bros do when you feel like this? Do you push through? Do you still lift, just lighter or less intense?

Thanks

If i feel good enough to go, i go. If i don't, i take the day off. That simple. Your body is telling you to rest for a reason. If you fight against it you will lose, it will just take longer to get over the cold and you will be weak in the gym. Focus on getting better in place of the gym, thats what i usually do. I just zone out the world and only focus on getting a ton of fluids, vitamins, and food down and sleep 24/7 until im better.

Learn from my mistake here, DONT DO IT!

Came down with a cold Weds 25th March, trained on the Thursday as felt ok, this made it worse, so I rested until Sunday (which I found a nightmare as I hate missing sessions) I attempted weights only on sunday and felt average so I hit the gym for cardio on Monday morning, as the day went on I got gradualy worse and have now not trained since, I picked up a chest infection, I am on day 4 of antibiotics and am hoping I might be ok to go and lift weights tomorrow.....fingers crossed!!!

My advice now is to rest up untill you are 100%, you will only manage a half hearted effort anyway if you go and you could end up doubling your time out of the gym like i have.:(

Rule of thumb, if it is only in your head/above the neck, you can train.

If it is in your chest, don't train.

You may also want to consider that you are going to the gym and spreading your virus around.

Also, it is a good idea to take a few breaks from training, it maximised muscle growth.
