Training while sick

I get extremely sore throats that go up into my ears. Its hard to do anything let alone workout. Does anybody have any secrets to end this pain as soon as possible and get me back into the gym?

I would use listerine and swish it around in the back of your throat for 45 seconds or so. That helps kill any bacteria and prevents strep from forming. Although if it's really bad you should be on an antibiotic. Strep throat can get ugly real quick. I would also talk to a doctor about this. Frequent sore throats and ear infections are not a good thing. It could also be a dental problem that needs to be addressed (ie: a rotted tooth can cause this).

As for training, I would rest. Your body is under so much stress trying to fight an infection, why make it work harder? Besides it's a good way to get others at the gym sick.

I am resting right now. I just can't stand to be out of the gym and losing my progress. As for the dental thing my teeth are very healthy, so I don't think that is the prob.

could be food poisoning..kinda sounds like what you described. sorry bro. get well soon.
Food poisoning is usually associated with some nausea and vomiting with GI upset, this sounds like something upper respiratory.

Yeah I don't have any nausea at all. Its just my throat and now going into my ear.

Ask your Dr. for a Z-pack, it's a 5 day course of antibiotics.

I would agree. Take some anti-biotics and get plenty of nutrients and rest.

Definitely agree on getting anit-biotics and rest but actually if you can muster up enough energy to get to the gym it's the best way to get rid of the germ or virus out of you quickly by sweating it out at the gym. Rest and recovery are essential but a good workout can do wonders for fighting the sickness. Get well soon bro!

You might wanna start supplementing with High Doses of Vitamin C in the future..... Vitamin C has been proven to improve your body's ability to kill viruses, if that's what's causing these frequent sore throats that is..... It's a cheap and safe option to try either way.....

I'm already taking about 2000mg of Vit. C a day so I don't know what is causing this.

bad advice about going to the gym... if it's viral, get rest.... sometimes though, if it's just a minor cold, going to the gym could help build immunity. but then, this is at the expense of getting other people at the gym sick as well... best just to get rest, drink lots of fluids, and take the antibiotic if necessary

I'm sick also... in the 4th week of my 12 week cycle of test e and tbol, I've been getting rest all weekend (this fuckin weather hasn't helped 10th day of heavy rain and raw) It feels like I'm screwing my cycle up by taking shots and not going to the gym but I know that if I don't get rest until I'm better I'll just get worse and prolong the sickness...

I agree with njmuscle and others... rest, fluids and antibiotics
