training partners are hard to come by

I used to have the perfect training partner. dude was a little bigger than me and a little stronger than me, this always pushed me to do more weight. we both shared the same schedule and training goals (bp,sq, dl). we parted ways about 2 years ago and I have been solo lifting since*sniffle*

now i wander the gym begging for spots, fucking sucks, esp on squats. It takes a bit of skill to be a good squat spotter, and my potentials are usually high school morons. On top of that i got to find 2 of them, one for each end of the bar. They typically help way to early, one dude will spot while the other does nothing, twisting the barbell and almost tipping me over.
A lot of peeps will walk away when they see me limping towards them, 'cause they know i am gonna spring the question on them.

other than that, i have been killing it lately

I agree I have not had a WO partner for about a year. The guy I used to lift was alot heavier and more into PL which helped me change up my routine.

The guy changed shifts and now I am shit out of luck.

Owell they usually dont last for long, I guess I am too tough on them

hard to come by? how about hard to come in! i had a training partner once. he dropped the soap in the showers.

we stopped working out together after that. dunno what his problem was.

perfect trainnig partner- 6'0", 200lbs, 300 bench, 400 squat, 500 dead. Only pays attention to me (ie loads & unloads all my plates, wipes down sweat, adjusts bench, givess snotty/intimadating looks to guys on machines that I want to use)

ok. any takers?? LOL.

oh yeah- & saves a great parking space for me!!

cool. ya know having a man training partner is great, but having a women training partner is like an hr bitch session about her crazy boyfriend, boss, ex-boyfriend..etc.

I never need a spotter except on max bench attempts.

Just squat in a power rack man.

you can get away with that in my gym. college gym....they think the power rack is for pullups and shrugs.

seriously though, i had to do that all summer because there was hardly anyone in there. pins were set so i had room between my neck and the bar, but it could rest on my chest.

training groups are what i have now. shits falling apart tho. i'm the only one who goes six days a week. dakotah usually comes with but isn't able to spot me :(

I hear what ya saying...my training partner left for the military a few months ago and I admit that workouts have been on the downhill eversince.

But ya know.. like everything else in this world, in the end you gotta rely on yourself.

I have worked out alone for years. I just ask someone to spot me when I need it.

I detest training partners. They interfer too much.

I might - on occassion - share a piece of equipment with someone, but that is it. I never do forced reps. I allow my neighbor to "help" me with my workouts on occassion during the summer when he is out of school. But only because he likes going to the gym just so he can get a milkshake afterwards.

I detest people in the gym, period. They always want to talk and end up fucking up my workout.

that just sounds bad......

I talk to people all the time that don't mind talking. Gives me more rest between sets.

I don't need to walk around the gym with a maddog stare going on and uber focused. I turn it on and off just like that. One minute I'll be bullshitting about whatever and the next I'll be hitting a heavy set. I never psyche myself up nor rush myself. Pretty much never hit failure and don't do forced reps. I'm usually in the gym for about 1.5-2 hours, but maybe 20-30 minutes of that is actual lifting. The rest is just rest and bullshitting.

Far as I can tell I'm still growing bigger and stronger, faster than most of the guys in the gym without juice.

I enjoy my workouts and push myself as hard as I feel I should to accomplish my goals and not more than that. Seems to work great.
