This is kind of out of left field but I'm hoping that someone else has come across something similar.
I'm training this guy currently who has the fitness goal of getting leaner, but he does 2 to 3 1/2 hours of cardio per day as conditioning for endurance car racing. I have not seen this before but he swears it's necessary. This is causing some trouble because of the huge calorie expenditure and what I'm guessing is an awful lot of muscle wasting because he says he can drink nothing but water before or during cardio or he will become nauseous. Convincing him to eat enough protein is a challenge in itself but has anyone ever trained a race car driver before? Is that much cardio really necessary?
