training 2 times a day...thoughts?

so i lost my job a month ago.
all i seem to do these days is sitting outside at some cafe drinking coffe and counting the hours til my next workout
i was thinking about maybe starting to workout 2 times aday instead of 1.
i mean instead of 80 mins or so like i used to, 5 times a week.....cut it down to 25-30 mins twice a day for 5 times a week.

would that be a big difference?

im training natural, maybe a good thing to keep in mind.
oh yeah...i mean weight training

Twice a day was the rage back in the day because Arnold said he did it and grew.
It makes sense if you have the time. You are simply adding in some recovery time
between major groups. The key is to not over train.

I can understand that you are trying to hang onto a disciplined activity during
this down time in your life. I have had many days, weeks and even months
when working out saved my life as I tried to bounce back.

Here is the challange for you:
No more than 30 minutes per workout ... maybe 3 exercises, 3 sets max each.
No marathon workouts when that second rush of recovery hits you.
Afternoon nap required.

Should your normal eight hours of sleep be disturbed or you show
any symptoms of overtraining, you cut back.

Chart your progress.

Good luck finding work.

i have quite hard time to get to sleep.
for some reason i seem to lay awake for a 1-2 hours before falling a sleep.
but 7 hours wont be a problem

i dont know how i would be able to take a nap in the day, but i try it.

ussully i do maybe 12-14 sets for the bigger bodyparts, wouldnt 9 be to little?

anyway, thanks

Twice a day requires smart programing. If size is your only concern, then 2x per day is overkill. But if you want to go to the gym, and it makes you happy to be there, by all means go.

It also lets you put full effort into both parts. For a week I did work experience at my gym and I did it then. For exmaple on monday I did this:
Morning-
Powercleans 3x5
Wide Squats 3x4
Lateral Raise 3x8
Ab Work

Evening:
DB Row 3x8
Chins 3x8
Couple sets biceps
Grip work

Worked well it meant I had time for the things I dont usually bother with like biceps abs and grip

I saw awesome results awhile back when I worked out two times a day, but I ended up over training and didn't realize it at the time. Personally I would workout one time a day and run for about 30 45 min when you wake up.

Sure. Normally it's not as beneficial to a BBer as opposed to an athlete, but if it's going to improve your motivation and overall happiness, go for it. You don't have to overthink things at all either - just divide your current workouts into logical parts...i.e. chest in the morning, shoulders at night, etc.

Im fortunate enough to go to the gym at 5:30am and do cardio then I alternate days where i do Abs, then on the following days do my Traps and Calves......then in the evening after work I hit the gym for a full blown work out on major muscle groups.

I have to tell ya waking up and going to the gym starts me off good !!!! I get in a good qaulity breakfast and im off to work in time. :qt: I would be what they call A GYM RAT
