I've been having problems with rounding my back when I deadlift, so I've been working on correcting the issue. Part of the problem seems to be my stance - I just can't seem to find a comfortable starting point (conventional dead). My second rep always seems to be smoother than my first rep.

I read an article in IronMan about using top-down deadlifts to correct your stance, and thought I'd give it a try. Basically, you start at the top, lower the weight to the ground making sure your back stays arched, pause, and lift. It definitely seemed to help.

Has anyone else used this approach? If so, how long did you use it before you switched back to starting from the ground?

i have never used that before, but when you deadlift remember to keep you whole back tight and squeeze your glutes from the start and pull back , have some one look at your form and make sure you have your shoulders behind the bar not forward of the bar.

Yeah - that's why I've been working on my stance. I know it's either a core strength issue and/or my stance. I started focusing primarily on GMs to help develop my core strength, and as soon as my PL friend gets a little time freed up, he's going to help fix my stance.

Thanks for the link, 2shy!
