NFL.com wire reports

TAMPA, Fla. (Dec. 22, 2005) -- James Dungy, the 18-year-old son of Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy, was found dead in a Tampa-area apartment, police said.

In a news release on its Web site, the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office said it "responded to the Campus Lodge Apartments this morning at approximately 1:32 a.m. The girlfriend of James Dungy had returned to the apartment and discovered Dungy."

Police performed CPR on Dungy before he was taken to University Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office.

Tony Dungy has left the Colts and is in Tampa, according to NFL.com.

The coach and his wife, Lauren, have four other children: daughters Tiara and Jade and sons Eric and Jordan.

The Colts (13-1) are at Seattle on Saturday.

omg thats so sad

the Colts will probably dedicate the rest of the season to his son and are almost guarenteed to win the super bowl because their playing for a bigger purpose.

Usually I don't buy into that crap, but I think you may be right. I would love to see either Indy or Cincy win this year. I am a die hard Lions fan and will probably need to wait another 40 years for Super Bowl 80 before the win.

Yeah i just read that article. Messed up. I wonder what the cause of death was. Hope its not drug related.

It is sad to lose anyone at any time. When it happens around the holidays, it is always a constant reminder and makes it so you can never really enjoy yourself when the holidays come around.

from what i am hearing, it's probably suicide. suicides are the highest during this time of the year. the holidays can be very depressing for people.

Monty Kiffin was the defensive coordinator, Tony was the head coach who was a defensive coordinator himself. Make no mistake Tony was in charge of that defense.
make no mistake you are wrong, this is also the wrong thread to be arguing on

if that doesnt prove that dungy ran the defense and monte was nothing more than the water boy, nothing will

It's all good Hammy
Check out where some of Tony Dungy's defensive schemes come from amd some Tony Dungy history

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05342/618907.stm

Just a couple weeks ago, Indianapolis coach Tony Dungy said the cover-two defensive scheme used by the unbeaten Colts is a defense borrowed from Mr. Carson's 1973 playbook. Mr. Dungy was a safety who played two seasons with the Steelers, 1977-78.

That's really, my thoughts are with his family and all others that have lost people, esp. this time of the year.

I bet it was a hit ordered by the Pats...;P j/k I shouldn't joke about this.

Yeah, that sux big time. I hope I never have to go thru anything like that. I can take just about anything, but losing your child would be a hard thing to deal with.
