God, I really detest selfish people.

What did Michael Schiavo care if her parents wanted to keep her alive? Was he there when she was born? Or took her first steps or on her first day of school? As the father of a daughter, you can bet I would kill the guy that tried to do what he did with my bare hands! Michael Schiavo has another life and has had it for quite sometime now.
If the state allowed her to die when she was in an unrecoverable state, then why is Jack Kevorkian in prison? If the precedent is now set that the only qualification for allowing someone to die is that they not be able to return to a “normal” state; there are a lot of people in nursing homes that would love to pass away with some dignity. But, if you try to get your Great Grandparents tube removed at the local nursing home, you’ll be in jail lickity split! Nursing homes, btw, that help keep the cost of health care soaring in this country.
Was she going to recover? No. But that was never the point with me. Her parents wanted her alive and Michael Schiavo just couldn’t let them alone and let them have their daughter. He just HAD to kill her. If there is a Hell, I hope the Devil uses Michael Schiavo as his sex donkey till the end of time.

I understand the parents grief. They loved their daughter dearly & were unable to accept the reality because of their hopes for, & belief in the reality of, a miracle.
As far as Mr. Schiavo's motivation, I believe he had accepted her loss many years ago. To have her body maintained in such a way, while loving another woman couldn't have been easy.
My wife & I have both chosen not to have heroic efforts made on our behalf, in a similar situation. I pray for Terri's family & I applaud Mr. Schiavo's courage in the face of such vehement criticism & open hatred.
If I could find any fault in the whole situation I think I would assign a miniscule amount to Terri's parents for not having the courage to accept & move on, as so many other parents have to do on a daily basis.
One thing I find reprehensible is the media coverage of this event, & the political & religious posturing.
Just my .02
I see your point here. I was actually thinking more of the patients that are old & senile or disabled. My wife's grandmother had alzheimers, & the last few months were devastating for all of us. When she was lucid, which wasn't very often, all she wanted to do was die.Vicious cycle said:This is where we just agree to disagree. I've worked in a nursing home and it's not a pretty sight. People lying around all day unable to communicate and being fed pureed food that is sucked up in a syring and pushed into their mouths. These people have know idea as to who, what or where they are. It's an awful sight to see what a lot of those people go through. There is a big difference beteween living and being alive. I just question why the State thought it was okay to let her die when there are people in nursing homes that are just as bad off as she was and they won't let them die with dignity.
This is a rather cold rebuttal & I'm not sure of the details of this aspect, but, if Mrs. Schiavo was vegetative & the state was paying for her care, wouldn't that considerable sum of money be better spent on other patients?Vicious cycle said:As far Mr. Schiavo goes, the grimmest irony in this is that those who wanted Terri Schiavo dead are resting their argument on the fiction that her marriage was still alive. I stand by what I said; if that's my daughter and I want to take care of her thats my decision. And I'll flat out kill the sumbitch who trys to do otherwise.

unfortunately, this example pretty much sums up fox as a network .Fast Twitch Fiber said:Funny how the religous wackos no longer want to discuss this issue. I remember seeing Hannity arguing with a neurosurgeon over her condition. That's right, Sean Hannity arguing with a fucking doctor about someone's medical condition! What a joke! I guess they'll do anything for ratings.
