I agree with you - there are jobs people can get, and yes, it is not impossible, never said it was. I am making the point that they just can't run out and get any job like you can. Also, you bring up agoraphobia. There is something you can do about that, you can take drugs, you can go to therapy, etc, etc. A deaf person is deaf. Period. I give major props to your neice, I do, but not everyone is the same. Some people have stronger dispositions and some people just lose hope. That doesn't make them lazy people that we should just shit on. Especially, the ones with a disability like being deaf.blueta2 said:It's much tougher but not impossible. People facing adversity function daily in jobs.
I was plagued with agoraphobia for many years and was housebound for 7 months. I could not even open a blind cause anxiety was making me so ill.
I got out of my rut and after some therapy I went and got a job. I was terrified! I had a handicap, I believe, worse that deafness! But I got off my butt and got a job. That was 20 yrs ago and I never looked back.
Any employer that would fire a deaf person should be and can be sued. Maybe your friend was not a good worker.
Serious C, there are a ton of jobs you can get where you do not need to hear. I have a 13 yr old niece in a wheelchair dying of an illness and she goes to regular high school every day w/out an excuse and with a smile. IF she can do that, then good golly miss molly, a deaf person can get a job
