Tired of the gym scene

I'm new to this board as well as to bodybuilding. I wondering how many of you remember your first time in the gym. Only been working out for a few weeks and have the program and diet thing down fairly well but I gotta say its hard as hell to work out in a hardcore gym where you are surrounded by nothing but monsters. Unfortunately its the only gym in the area otherwise I would try out more of a "fitness" type gym like Ballys even though I hear it sucks. For one thing I am a skinny son of a bitch. 6ft 150 pounds and most of the guys I am around in the gym don't look like they way under 230 pounds. And if that wasn't enough they throw around weights the size of tanker trucks while I am lifting not even a fourth of what they bench. In a way its actually motivating to see such a display of power and to see what the human body can become. Just wondered to those that can recall how did you deal with this dilema when you started out? Just for the record you guys don't make it easy for the new kid on the block but my hats off to anyone who works that hard and has the drive and the determination. Hopefully I'll been in your shoes someday.

Don't let those guys get you down!!! EVERYONE starts somewhere. I walked into the gym at 5'6" 145lbs and now go around 195-205 at roughly 8% BF. It takes time...just stick with it

Make some friends in the gym, they sound like they know their weights. Try finding a workout partner.

actually my first gym was my living room w/a plastic weider weight set and a bunch of couch cushions/pillows stacked on the floor as a bench. after a month my mom bought me a bench... it was so small that w/100 lbs racked on the bench it would flip over. after it got to the point we couldn't stack any more weight on i started working out at a real gym. really gave me alot of respect for such nice equipment.

Hard core is the best place to work out. You will learn more there. Don't think the big guys are looking down on you, it's not like that.
Unless of course you're working out like a pussy. If you train hard you will get respect no matter how much weight you are doing. Stay hard core, and one day you will be one of them. I'm speaking from experiance.

Like Genarr said, these guys wont look down on you. If you do your shit right and they notice they will respect it.

bro dont worry, I was 145 6'1" a year ago(198 now).
Believe me I feel ya--anyways just train hard and lift as heavy as you can- you'll get there

Believe in yourself.

Just one thing dont ever think you got the training down right, especially if you are just starting out. if you need help try and asking questions like what could help you, but dont be gay about it and saying shit like your a role model, i have actually heard that in a gym before - than me and the other guy(role model) laughed about it.

And stick with it, even if you dont see gains with in the 1st 3 weeks, you will get there if you want it badly enough and if you are smart about it
