We have a "feedback loop" with AOL and Yahoo -- when one of their users complains about getting spam from us, they push it back to us.

We have people here who think it's okay, or funny, or something like that, to sign up to get email notices of their subscribed threads and then report them as spam.

Let me explain this in small words: IF YOU ASK FOR IT, IT IS NOT SPAM.

If you can't be bothered to go to your profile and turn off the notices, I will solve the problem for you by banning your ass -- and then posting your name right here so everyone knows why you're not around any more.

In case this is confusing anyone --

AOL has a button that says "REPORT THIS AS SPAM." People are using it when they get notices of subscribed threads, which you control in your profile.

I'm not talking about George's little fireside chats. I hope you'll cut him some slack for those, but that's not what this is about.

You do NOT have to use the "report spam" button just to delete a piece of mail, and if you click it for something that YOU control, you are lying to AOL about us.

I just banned five one-shot visitors and one long-time member who went inactive, all of whom clicked the "THIS IS SPAM" button on notices of new messages or new gallery uploads to which they themselves had subscribed.

On second thought, there's no real reason to post their handles here because they're nobody you'd recognize.... but boy, was I tempted!
