Thyroid problems?

Im 250lb at the moment, was 310 last december, but Ive had to be on a 2000-2500 calorie diet to get there. Now the weight is coming off much harder and the only thing Ive found to keep dropping it is 1500-2000 calories a day. Isn't this WAYYY below what I should have to eat to lose weight?

Im wondering if I should get my thyroid checked to see if its a problem with my metabolism, I also feel tired and unmotivated almost every day at work even with 10 hours of sleep.

1) Eat 3000 cals for a week, then drop back to 2000-2500. It gives your metabolism a kick in the ass to get going again.

2) Up your cardio, if you're not doign any then start.

I do 45-60 mins of cardio around 4 times a week and its still not dropping unless I eat 1500-2000 at 240lb and I have a pretty decently active job, I climb at least 20 flights of stairs at work daily.

look every person is different and depending on the amount of activity done a 1500 cal diet can be enough or insufficient. For instace you say you have a pretty decently active job... climb 20 flights of stairs... and your cardio.... your body will work optimum as a car needs fuel for running, the more you do food has to compensate.
I don't know how much are your proteins, but IMO 1500-2000cals for an active male is very low.

nikkita, exactly this is why I think there might be a problem, not just an active male but a 250lb one. Should this be something I should get checked out by my family doctor or a dietician etc..?

As someone with thyroid problems, i would have it checked out. but it sounds like you probably need to up your calories. If you are in too much of a caloric deficit, and your body will go into starvation mode, and any food consumed (carbs and fats at least) will be stored for future use instead of using it as needed when consumed. That could be why you feel sluggish after sleep, it could also be thyroid. i'd get it checked just to be safe, but try adjusting your calories first and see if it fixes it, since that way is free lol.

When I eat 2500 I don't lose any weight, hence why ive had to drop it down to 2000 and now 1500.

I knew that there was something wrong with me as well. I am not over weight but when I am getting ready for a photo shoot or something I can work out like crazy and eat super clean and recieve minimal results. \
I saw my family doc who ran a bool test and foind nothing. I then went to a naturopathic who did a saliva test and it should I was hypothyroid. I would see a naturopathic dr for some help. Good luck!

careful, if you have a thyroid issue, you are making it worse by this.

Have it checked, the whole deal, T3 levels, etc

When someone is hypothyroid symptoms are very noticeable and weight begins to go up (as a consecuence of low metabolism). If after having your thyroid checked, you're diagnosed hypothyroid or any other thyroid disorder (I hope that everything comes alright!) then ask your endocrinologist about what type of diet to follow and how to adjust your workout sessions.
if you come out alright, then probably all that is needed are adjustments to your diet... which you can post and get lots of valuable opinions.
