with all the cries for battle and war... destruction, etc... i was wondering if those calling for war and "wanting" (strange to say wanting war, but i think you know what i mean) are enlisting or if you are just willing to watch on t.v.

lots of you (not putting you down) have made many comments about wanting revenge and how blood shall quench but how many are really going to DO SOMETHING about it?

its much easier to want war than to want to be involved in it... i personally would only enter the forces if i was drafted, and even then i KNOW i would have some major doubts about going...

so, if you want war or revenge, are YOU going to enlist?

those enlisted already have all my respect, those saying bomb this, invade that but are not going to join up, you do not.

enjoy

Excellent point. The other sad part is it is the guys that have to join the military to try and get an edge to get through school are those that will be sent. Spoonfed little snobby pieces of shit will sit and drink beer while the rest of us have to go and fight.

The "real" men in this country go right from being ridiculed and ostrcized for not having the ability to acquire name brand shit to having to put their life on the line for everyone else's freedom and safety.

As you are starting up the SUV daddy bought you, and are talking big game about spilling blood, think about who really has to do it.

(y'all can ignore this post as mine normally get ignored, but it is just the honest truth)

I honestly wish I could enlist, but I can't because I have to support my family. And when you're 20, and a full-time student, that takes a lot. But if the draft were to be reinstated, and I were to receive a letter, I would go and fight, proudly.

Good point MB.

Soldiers hate war more than anyone.

I'm ready to fight and if need to die. I knew this when I joined that's why I joined the best.

I just wish that military members got a little more respect for thier hard work and risk we take. Alot of Americans can't even tell the difference of service uniforms. I've made quite a few scenes when I was called a soldier or Air force, really tick me off.

Born to Fight, Trained to Kill
Ready to Die, but Never Will

Yes, if this turns out to be WWIII...meaning if we do in fact "unleash hell," and in turn are attacked again by _____ (insert radical country here), and then others get involved, etc., etc., etc., I plan on enlisting.

What good is it to have all of the views/opinions, etc., that I have, if I would not be willing to fight for them?!?!

For my future children, for the hundreds of children I work with every week, and for all those in America who have fought before (men like my Grandpa who enlisted three days after Pearl Harbor, and dropped paratroopers on the beach of Normandy!), I would fight.

Mark my words...

Well said. There are a lot of immature, pseudo-tough guys on this board and I question whether they would back up their words.

What's the harm in that? Would you rather have, people standing up for their country, or being being too cowardly to fight?

I planned on enlisting into the Marines before Tuesday. I was asked if I still wanted to on Wednesday. I said Hell Yeah. What kind of Marine would I make if I only wanted to join for peace time and not want to help out during war? Not a very good Marine.

I'm not wishing for war, never did. I also wish that what happened Tuesday never did either. But it did and I will go to war if this country does.

I'm not afraid to die. Sounds like I'm being macho, but a long time ago I realized that one day I will die. I have faith in God and whole heartedly believe that He will take me when He wants me. Whether its crossing the street, during a fight on the battle field, on when I'm 90 and sitting in a lawn chair {or being shot by an 18 y/o girl's jealous b/f as Bouncer put it}.

Freedom isn't free. Its paid by blood, sweat, tears, and lives. I'm willing to give my share of those to preserve freedom in this country.

Theres no honor in being a pussy. I see kids who say they'll run to Canada. I say then just leave. Nothing disgusts me more than those who are willing to leech off of this country and don't repay the favor.

so basically, those that want blood want no part in shedding it themselves? that is my take since so many were screaming for war and yet only a handful of folks replied, MOST of which are already IN the military.

I agree Mad....I am still very skeptical about this whole thing...I'm pretty strong-willed, and actually had planned to enlist in the military for the majority of my younger life because I was always fascinated by all of it...but after learning about Vietnam...no fucking way...those poor people died for NOTHING.

I love what this country stands for, and I'd would GLADLY die to defend that freedom, and the people who I love, but I'll be damned if I go fight GEORGE DUBYA BUSH'S "AMERICA'S WAR OF 2001!!!"

This is not like W.W.II where we were fighting to literally save our country and the world from facists, this is because our country, which is controlled by corporations and the rich, NOT the people, trained a bunch of terrorists to be terrorists and now are surprised when our shit foreign policy results in this attack...or are they? I still think that Bush's buddies are gonna make a shitload off of this...especially if we end up occupying some of the oil-producing countries.

I'll tell you what, if I feel as though my FAMILY and the woman I LOVE is at risk, then I will go if drafted, but I sure as hell won't be happy about it.

I wasnt born in this country, but i am here.

The thing im most afraid of in this world is death because im unsure of whats next. But to defend freedom and other peoples lives I would lay down mine. I would gladly go to war and be sent on front lines and shoot me down some arabians. I might die but I know what i fought for was the right thing.. When the time comes and im old enough to be part of the military i will gladly sign up.

I'm enlisted and except that I might not come home...Now whether my faimly excepts that no I dont, but I have my affairs inorder in case something happens to me

i hear ya on that one tx. i'm getting all my ducks lined up because i leave in a week. my suggestion to you is not to burn your bridges. i had a dope job but i quit and i made them promise me a job if i ever decided to come back. tell all your family you love them. it's really bad in my family because it's not just me going to the marines, but my bro got a recall for the army. we're both gonna be going.
