Get an XTi, they are about $300 now in mint condition. That is what I use. I have a 40D that basically just sits in the box.
The upgrade to the XSi is not worth the coin, unless you simply can NOT live without the Live View feature. The rest of the improvements you would never use/notice anyway.
I have a 40D and live near the Canon factory and i almost said canon will fix it for certain till I noticed it wasn't an XSi lol. Kodak has warranty info

Well, I broke down and bought camera number 3 of the year yesterday. UGH. I didn't want to be without a camera. I'm going to use it for haloween and then return it. Screw Wally world! They have a 15 day return policy on cameras. So, they screwed me on this last one but I will screw them on this one.
I'm sending the broken one back to Kodak. It's still under warranty.
