I have no problem with ANY animal being killed by somebody who plans to eat it's meat for food and use it's fur for making clothing. This is the way God and nature intended it from the start. That goes for ANY animal, evem cats and dogs. What I do not and will never agree with, is the treatment these animals are getting. There is no reason why the animlas are being kicked, beaten, dropped and mishandled.
If you must kill a dog to feed and clothe yourself then do it, but don't torture and brutalize the poor creature before you kill it.

As for the debate - are we focusing on China's ethics/morals or American consumption of foreign produced goods? If the latter write your congressman/woman and boycott the stores. If it is the former, then this is just another case of America's superior moral compass being imposed on another culture.

Child labor has fluorished where markets encourage it. It's not a moral or ethical thing - it's economics, just like it was in the USA 130 years ago.

Poorer asian kids have few alternatives; it's not like they are missing out on playing with their friends in some idyllic happy backyard until their Mommies call them for dinner.

Child labor exists where the measly wages the kid earns are necessary for the survival of the family. The alternatives for these kids are enslavement in a rice paddy or equally brutal agricultural job / lifestyle that typifies abject poverty.

For most of these children, the sweatshop makes their lives better. They are not sold into slavery by evil westerners.

That's a nice post...

The fact this kind of stuff is even up for debate all the time blows me away. If you can for one second support an industry that makes money off the way it treats another LIFE.. a heart beating, pain feeling life...than you SERIOUSLY have more deep seeded issues as a HUMAN BEING than wearing a fur coat.

I have a cousin(whos in prison now) who poached by killing deer and bears and turkeys and anything he could....just because he was mad at the wildlife preserves for busting him before
he would kill them and just leave them
But his dad lost a truck and a gun for poaching.......thats a serious crime around TN
