This is a fucked up disturbing video. If you still shop at J.Crew after this...

that's different, it's the same as being bedside when someone dies. i'm asking who is willing to do all of these things that they otherwise accept?

Frankly I don't think I could slaughter my own animals for food......'cept for a lobster - I've done that....oh and crabs and fish...

The two most polluting nations in human history are the USSR and China. Interestingly, business had NO ROLE in any of that.

So? That just proves that the statist fantasy is just as wrong as the free market fantasy. Neither system would be ethical if allowed to go to their unchecked extreme.

Property rights prevent pollution. Capitalism - imperfect as it is - recognizes the imperfections of people and allows for people to reach their potential because capitalism is based on property rights and voluntary interactions among people. Only this system can ever hope to be conisdered "ethical", because it does not default to some all powerful entity which holds moral authority while being filled with the same human shit that make up every other entity.

Walk to the light, dB.

I don't buy it. I don't believe that the opportunity for anyone to reach their potential will continue to exist without some degree of artifical outcome-levelling. If everything were to revert to a true free market, the talent gap between the minority of truly exceptional people and the majority of mediocre-or-worse human chattle would widen to such an extent that the children of the workers would never have the opportunities that you have enjoyed.

Elements of both capitalism and socialism are needed if we wish to have a society where most people are comfortable and happy. Finding the right balance between the two is the hard part.

If I had to do it for survival, I would do it. But since there are corporations & industries like Perdue, the Cattle Industry, the textile industry, I don't have to. See that's it, Americans have become so domesticated and PC. In other countries and cultures, killing an animal for food & skin isn't an issue.

My Mom had my dog euthanized yesterday. They didn't do it, but they were standing right there. It was either that or they the dog would suffer a painful death.

Actually, I work for an industry that makes money off the way it treats another life. Its called the hospitality industry. I'm going to assume, you are talking about negative treatment of another LIFE. I'm also going to assume you are including HUMANS. What about an industry that treats people worse than animals to produce enough goods for profit?

ok. let me be more direct. would you shoot your dog in the fucking head? what you've said is that you don't have to deal with it so it's acceptable. these "other countries" don't use humane methods of death. they take blunt fucking objects to their skulls, or slit their throats with a dull blade. please elaborate on the industry that treats people statement. animal shelters are full of unwanted animals that were previously wanted. impulsive assholes who have no concept other than "i want" go and buy an animal who does nothing but be a good companion. these same idiots then tire of them and then dispose of them. i'd like to see these people have to do their own kiling, since it's so easy to dump it off and make it someone elses problem.

I held my Momo on my lap when I had to put her to sleep in March while the vet injected her.......it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.

The director of where I work had to put her cat down Monday. She brought it up to work and did it. I've seen her have to put animals down several times but I've never seen her so heartbroken. She missed work for two days. She had the vet up there to necropsy the cat after. (biologist have to know I guess) and then she buried it out back by the big pool.

I freaking cried my eyes out when I had to put my first elephant seal down.

:bawling: :bawling: :bawling:

I bet tossing the animals in the cages off of the bus is the best part. I'd like to do it just to see what it sounds like when the legs of twenty cats snap.

Dogs would hit the ground harder, so I'd rather chuck them off something higher like a 20 ft utility shed or somethng along those lines. Then you might even get some skulls, ribs, and jaws breaking.

This is hard to accept when there is empirical evidence refuting you. Extreme statism gave us mass murder, (along with the world's worst pollution in history) extreme free markets gave us the Industrial Revolution.

For the slow people on this thread, the Industrial Revolution was the fastest ever increase in standard of living for the highest number of people in the history of the world.

If it were true, then only a select few would have benefited from the Industrial Revolution. While a select few received enormous benefit, the increase in standard of living reached almost everyone.

Great fortunes cannot be created alone. Bill Gates has the $50B, but 14,000 Microsoft employees have over $1M. In captialism, the creation of great fortunes benefits a great number of people.

There is no economic reason to "keep people down" in a free market; in fact, it's impossible. Labor is a commodity.

What the introduction of socialist tendencies invariably does is limit the extremely capable from progressing as fast as they could, therefore diminishing opportunities for benefit across multiple strata.

If it wasn't against the law and only option, I would. I don't think animals should be abused. You are correct about animals being dropped off at shelters.

So are we arguing the humane treatment of animals or the difference between American Culture and other cultures?

So, what are you and everyone else in this thread going to do? Are you going to change your shopping habits? Because I'm sure J. Crew isn't the only American operation that is letting this happen. Are you 100% sure the beef you ate from some cow recently was treated humanely prior to be being butchered?

The Industrial Revolution was also guilty of horrendous human exploitation. We are saddled with corrupt labor unions today as a result of that, because of the need for an entity that was strong enough to fight back. The Industrial Revolution is hardly a shining example.

You are kidding me right? Are you really that shallow over clothes?

You do realize the power behind the american consumer and what they buy and where they choose to shop. BIG POWER in consumers.

American car dealerships used to crash test their automobiles with dogs and chimps in them. It was stopped...guess why?
