Thinking of getting newspaper subscription, taking suggestions

I've never had a newspaper subscription before. Parents always did, but only local ones like the Chicago Sun-Times and stuff. I guess I never realized these things cost like $3-400/year.

Thinking of WSJ or Financial Times. Suggestions? I'm looking for something more business/markets-oriented, but really have no idea what's out there.

Go with WSJ. Usually a good read, even if it does tend to be a little pessimistic/doom bringing. FT is great too, but is it several hundred dollars better than WSJ? Think not...

Is there anything out there besides these two for business news? I hear highly of the Economist, but I couldn't get through a single boring article the couple times I flipped through it. The NYT has a decent section or two, but I wouldn't read most of it.

The Economist is ok... it has shifted significantly to the left politically even since I started reading it. That said, it's still a pretty good read. Relatively moderate as printed news goes, and it usually does pretty well presenting facts. But you're right, can be dry.

I'd probably go with WSJ over Econ. 2 cents.
