My husband's employer is changing his/our health insurance company and coverage, it is now almost $200 more a month and it's a shitty ass coverage, the one at my job is equally as shitty fuck :( it doesnt cover dick really, we both have monthly appointments and scripts so this now sucks it will cost even more really unless we suspend or decrease treatment, I've always known I have 100% coverage and low copays, now I'm gonna have a huge deductible, 70% coverage and copay + 25% after deductible for pretty much everything :(

This is one of the very few things I fucking hate about living here now, figuring out health insurance is a pain in the ass and then it turns out there's a bunch of tiny restrictions, things not covered, shit not covered, or your Dr isn't in the fucking network or all sort of bullshit :worried: what a mess

fucking bullshit
Specially after my husband's craneotomy I'm now paranoid as fuck, if that shit were to happen again I'd be in like $15k of medical debt :(

Always use the ER, no matter how tiny the issue is. Then skip out on the bill. It's the American way.

How much is the deductible on new plan? It sucks that the premium is going up $200 a month.

Unfortunately, all of Barry's goodies are now getting factored into premiums. We're going through the same process ourselves at work. The only option is to jack-up the deductables and jack-up the premiums.

- Kids on insurance till 26
- No lifetime limits
- No pre-existing conditions
...
...

All that stuff costs money which translates into hundreds of dollars a month in extra premium costs. I'm shocked it's only $200 right now. It could easily go up another $200-$400.

The other huge hole in the BarryCare is how it doesn't deal with family policies. The employer must offer a 60% coverage plan that doesn't cost the employee more than 9.5% of their pay.

That's great... but individual employees are the minority of people that a business insures. With Barry piling-on cost onto employers, we will comply with BarryCare and shift all that extra cost onto the family plan.

Imagine someone making $120,000/year. They clearly aren't eligible for government subsidies. They'll have an "affordable" (less than 9.5% of their pay) plan for themselves. And what about the wife and two kids? Oh, they can buy-up to a family plan for an extra $2,500 per month.

Good times!

The irony is, fewer people will actually wind-up with access to health insurance than ever before. It's like Pelosi said: We have to pass the bill so we can see what's in it.

Pretty sure Im below the EF mandated poverty line. Can all you robs each paypal me $20? Gotta spread your shit around for the greater EF good.

Lot's of MO-ness all up in this thread.

I'm glad I'm str9.6

Health insurance: fuckthatshit.jpg

I deal drugs and moonlight as a hitman so I can pay cash for my HIV medication.

Thank Obama for that
Nice try but my old company switched to a $3K deductible in 2009 and it had nothing to do with the black dude.

Fear not, the new deductible number will be closer to $10K.

It's coming for the majority of businesses.

I recently got a print out of the costs of our health coverage for both employer and employee..

it went from right around $10k a yr to a little over $15k a yr with way crappier coverage at the $15k a yr level
I HAD a $500 a yr deductible, now its $4500 a yr a deductible

i gotta be honest ...Im pretty happy the employer covers like 80% of the premium, just wish the deductible wasn't so insane.

According to BarryCare, your employer has to provide a 60% coverage plan (a.k.a. a "qualified" plan). But that just insures that on average, 40% of the total health care costs comes from the employee. How they choose to split that up into deductables, co-pays and % coverage is at the discretion of the employer for now.

So in your 80% example, your employer may be taxed on that incremental benefit (assuming your deductible is low) as it is considered additional or supplemental income above the standard. So they may need to raise that deductible just to get you to an overall 60% benefit.

ya I remember HR going over it all with everyone and it was a big to-do when it switched over two years ago.
Theyre currently trying to figure out how to get the employees back to the prior level of coverage without bankrupting everyone. They're only even doing that because they a multi billion dollar company and can afford it and actually seem to genuinely give a shit about their employees (and making sure they're productive)

hell I'm looking at the 26 yr old portion of things going, wow...I'm fucked but that on the same coin ..with my brother in law cutting off his finger in my driveway at 25 yrs old and not having insurance..I just went through the scramble of claiming it on my auto insurance (happened on one of our cars) then helping him fill out the paperwork for medicaid...
the finger incident was a little over 10k all total. I'm glad we were able to get insurance coverage in place for that bill. The kid can't find work with his lousy degree and is swimming in student loan debt. It's an interesting paradox I don't pretend to have a genuine idea for a solution.
