You're missing the point. Keeping rec drugs illegal is at the heart of the pharmaceutical industry's lobbying agenda. Interstingly, they spend more on lobbying than the Defense Industry and Labor Unions combined.
See - we CAN use their mind altering prozac and Zoloft, but we cant use cocaine.
The differences between a legal drug like ritalin and cocaine are smaller than you may think. The differences between legal drugs morphine or oxycontin (synthetic morphine) and illegal heroin are virtually non-existent: each is a powerful narcotic.
This is why we have a 'war' on drugs.
