The Strecth Mark Thread

My lowerback is riddled with the little guys, goes all the way down to my striped ass cheeks too. Looks like someone sliced the hell out of it with a knife. They span the full width. I lovem. Started forming them when I was 15 and lifting. Strangely enough. Didnt deadlift till I was 19 so never understood that. Also have them in the armpit/chest area. Not too freaky there though.

God bless you. You have been given excellent skin.

rofl Ms BH

I guess I won't be doing any underwear ads with 3 inch long 1/2 inch thick stretch marks on my hamstrings huh? lololol muhahaha

Damn, I've got them everywhere. Hamstrings, inside of thighs, inside of biceps, across my chest, outer edge of my lats. Usually when I tan alot they fad out abit, but when I'm pale (I'm slovic like you so you understand what I'm talking about) they are very visable. When I did my first bulking cycle I put on 50 ibs in 8 weeks, so that is where ALOT of them came from.

big deep ones on biceps and pec/delt tie-ins. ass, hips, thighs, hams, calves, and lats. hopefully they will shrink or something while i lose some chub

despite gaining almost 80lbs in 2 years (naturally mind you) i dont have any stretchmarks for some reason

To be honest, from pics I've seen, overall I think Hammer has a bit better of a physique than that guy.

Dude, unless I am a dumba$$, that is hammer.....

Hamstrings, no way, never heard of that, pretty cool...

I just have them on my shoulders, not the typical out from the armpits though... (I only have a couple little tiny ones on the edge of the pit, you can't see them unless you really look- which is good)

The ones I have are more like long cuved ones that go from the top of my delt to the bottom, two on each side (both pretty thin, one 4-5 in long and one short, 2-3 in long, underneath the long one, following the countour of the shoulder muscle... )

I have never seen anyone else with ones like mine, They are cool and I like em... The wife says they look like some type of ceremonial scarring or something....

Hey hammer, not to get OT, but what is that in the ink you got, looks like a word or something....

I have them everywhere as well.
mostly from weight fluctuations as a teenager.

they get red when i gain muscle......so they are all red except for on my gut.....they are a lovely silver

I have so many

I have none yet, I went from 170 lbs in Feb to 215lbs now and still growing, when they will arive, I dont know, maby in my 2ed year of lifting I will get them !! :(

Shit, next time we meet i'll show you the ones on my arms, shoulders, and lats. You'll never call them pretty again, haha.

I thought they go away once your skin catches up with your growth? I had some from when I gained 30 pounds of mostly fat but when I lost it they almost completely went away.
I've seen real skinny girls with them so I dunno.

It's more genetic than anything else.

Some people are blessed with skin that doesn't damage that way.

And fat = stretch marks is a huge myth.

But you probably know this already.

"Some people are blessed with skin that doesn't damage that way."

Not really. If you are genetically skinny, and if you gain a lot of fat or muscle ... you are bound to get stretch marks.

"And fat = stretch marks is a huge myth."

Well, when I pigged out and got to 260lbs, that's when my stretch marks started.

---

JMHO.

I think it has to do with the elasticity of the person's skin. The classis ectomorphs are more prone to stretch marks if they gain a lot of weight than the endomorphs (specially if done fast).

I used to think I never got stretch marks, but that's cause I never really got enough to the point where my skin would stretch. Once I broke the 250lbs mark, I noticed them coming.

This is just my personal experience and from what i've noticed ...

Sk*- Dont worry bro, Ive seen lots of bad ones, this one guy I knew (OTackle) Had em so thick on his guy he looked like half an eggplant...
Jolly- IMO I think it is a good sign you don't have to worry about em too much
Hammer- The more I think about it the more I think your hammie marks mean I am not working mine hard enough..
CCJ- Dude I love your avlarios...

I am the king of stretch marks, I kid you not! I have them on the back of my delts, triceps, on top of my biceps, near my lats, on my ass, on my hamstrings, calves, outer chest and on my lats! I want them to go away! When I meant I wanted to be ripped, this is wasnt what I had in mind!

i currently have stretch marks under my right pit going into my shoulder...haven't had one in year...proud of it!!! tb

i have them on my inner thigh wrapping around to my hamstrings. light in color but pretty big, if your face is close enough to my junk to check it out........lol

thats what happens when your thighs go from 24 inchs to 29 inches in 8 months.

X

right pec (small one) and huge motherfuckers on the insides of both my arms. also a few littles ones on my back.

Has nothing to do with being skinny or fat or body type and you are right it is about elasticity and the quick stretching out of the skin. You could be a young teen with a growth spurt and get strech marks and you could obese and still not have stretch marks.

Take for example pregnant woman - some women get very large very deep stretch marks across their bellies and some women don't.

All in all they will eventually fade and discolor but they never go away.

They do fade and go a silvery colour in time, I've had ones that were over an inch wide and six inches long that used to be deep red, which you can hardly notice now.

But, isn't elasticity directly related to if you are fat or not? Meaning, if you are fat, over the years you have developed a more stretchy skin than someone that has been skinny all their life.

Could a woman with visible abs, possibly not have stretch marks after going through pregnancy? I would think it would be impossible, assuming she had the abs for a few years.

Maybe i'm wrong ...

She could very easily get stretch marks. If she has visable abes for years, her waist has been very small a long time, and the skin on her waist line will stretch a considerable amount during pregnancy. If she is prone to stretch marks she will almost certainly get them from this. Stretch marks are caused by gaining size in a certain area faster than the skin can adapt and grow to keep up.

Exactly, this is what I was trying to say.

If someone was fat, losses the fat, and starts to gain muscle ... he won't gain stretch marks cause the skin is already stretched.

Believe it or not. . .stretch marks are typically an indicator of rapid weight gain and poor nutrition.

poor nutrition? exactly what is it that you need to prevent them?

I have many small ones on my delts and the inside of my left arm.

I've got real ugly ones on my lower back. Looks like someone beat me with a whip. I also have them on my hips.

I got them as a teenager when I had a growth spurt.

No.

You can be skinny or fat and have poor elasticity.
You don't just develop "stretchy skin" - if you are obsese your skin is stretched out and it doesn't mean you will have stretch marks.

Visible abs doesn't gurantee no stretch marks - that's kinda funny.

Skin is skin the condition and future condition of your skin is already predeterminded. Having abs, being obese or skinny does dictate how your skin will response - it will change the conditions of your skin but not change the response.

Hope that makes sense - I can't really find a good way to explain that.

Take anyone's skin you want. If you stretch it enough, there will be stretch marks.

"Visible abs doesn't gurantee no stretch marks - that's kinda funny."

At least, I made you laugh, but I said the opposite of that. If you have abs and a very lean body, it will be very hard to avoid stretch marks once you gain enough weight.

I understand what you are saying. I just won't give credit to genetics to determine the elasticity of the skin. Again, no matter who's skin you stretch, after a good amount of resistence it will have stretch marks.

I don't know how much you weigh or anything, but add 100lbs within a year and I guarantee you will have them.

I dont know about that SK. Personally I was very fat at one point. 230 pounds, 30% bodyfat area. I started dieting and working out very heavily and I am a scarred mofo now. At about 210 17% bodyfat now.

Scars everywhere, biceps, chest, full back, traps, stomatch, ass, hams, quads, inner though forearms.

I'm naturally very unflexible. I cant scratch my back, doggy style hurts. I can just barely touch my toes now thanks to power yoga. Its most likely genetic.

"Believe it or not. . .stretch marks are typically an indicator of rapid weight gain and poor nutrition."

cough, cough, bulshit.

Sorry louden, you may know a lot about strength but stretch marks are my area of expertise, dammit. Had them since puberty, always had a good diet and my weight was within about a 30 pound range during puberty 15-20. Good diet and excellent health. I've got very pretty stretch marks along my delt bicep tie ins. Vitamin E, bulshit. Bad Diet, more bullshit. Severe weight gain, yup more BS again. Talk to the women who have babies. Some get em others don't. Life just works that way. On the plus side I don't think I'll ever have to worry
about a tummy tuck.

oh well I kind of like the way my stretch marks line up with the my muscles. I think it looks cool.

peace.

once again, in what way?

Well look at it this way, if you eat excessive amounts of foods that contain empty calories that are loaded with sugars and fats, you become susceptible to gaining extra fat weight that causes the skin to stretch.

There are vitamins within certain foods that help build and repair the skin, but these are not available in junk foods.

Christ, yall. Listen to Velvett. Some people have more elastic skin than others. Just like some people scar easily and others don't. Yes, size fluctuations increase your likelihood of getting stretch marks, but you can get them without those fluctuations and you can fluctuate and NOT get stretch marks. I know skinny young women with stretch marks, meanwhile my mother had three babies, years later put on about 80 lbs and was 50 before she started getting a few stretch marks.

That sounds like my sister. Very lean before and after pregnancy. No stretch marks on her belly.

ah i see. so you did not actually mean that the food itself causes stretch marks, but more the long term effects of it. i was a little confused there.
