The sad state of education in America today:

timtim said:
what does this have to do with the education system in america?

1 beauty pageant competitior is how we grade our education system? sure....

lol to those condemning america and all its negatives yet living and prospering under the freedom provided by 18 and 19 year olds fighting a world away while you type on your lap top while sunning on your porch.

if you dont like it, leave. the more negativity we lose the stronger we become. some people really need a lesson on loving their country.

(In case you missed this the first time)

A very big reason why my sister just moved her family OUT of the United States and why I hope to be able to follow with my children someday soon.
^^ I began TWO threads about it.

And my husband was Army Ranger who served in Vietnam... for which he was promptly "rewarded" by being hit with a balloon filled with urine (among other loving and appreciative accolades) upon his return *home* to the United States.

..... so you were saying?

great, my dad served 2 tours in vietnam and my brother currently has spent 13 months in pakistan. after 9/11 he spent 6 months in israel, 6 months in yemen, and various tours through iraq.

whats your point? you think youre alone in this whole thing and your family is the only one touched negatively? we ALL sacrifice for what we have. freedom comes with a price and my dad and brother say that religiously.

My point was that even those who have served this country (and got shit on for it) think that there are waaaaaaaaaaay better places to live as well so your mention of our servicemen and women isn't really relavant to the topic at hand. My husband has lived all around the world and as soon as we can we will leave this *once great* land.

There is A LOT wrong with the US and it is sad when so many Americans keep sticking their heads in the sand refusing to recognize it. This LAUGHABLE example about the empty-headed bubble head who was chosen by the great people of that particular US State was supposed to be representative of THE BEST (not merely the prettiest) that state had to offer.

When I see examples like that I am ASHAMED that I am a citizen of the United States - period.

i see foreigners around nyc all the time. i never once said, "wow what a stupid russian" (for example, could be an italian, spaniard, etc) and then made all of my assumptions about the country based on that 1 person. i mean really, i dont think anyone watching that beauty pageant girl said, "wow, the US must have terrible schools just look at this 1 person, they all must be stupid". thats a huge stretch. if your ashamed to be an american its better you leave. in my case my head is not in the sand, i support the country in times of success and failure. im sure the country was awesome for you when the stock market was rocking and the dotcoms were rolling and everyone was making money hand over fist. but when the dark cloud comes around the best thing to do in times of trouble are to cut losses and run.

theres alot to be proud of about being an american. its a shame people forget that and make everything a negative when times are tough.

You are so short-sited it is scary.

My parents were poor immigrants who came to this country and BUSTED THEIR ASSES to give their kids a life they thought would be better. Now only one generation later their American born children are leaving the US and returning home in order to give THEIR children a life that they can not give them in the United States.

Our exodus has NOTHING to do with money and everything to do with our children's future.

you dont know anything about me so calling me short sighted is a pretty bad assumption. i support my country for all the good and bad. its my part of being an american. i dont agree with everything and dont like everything but this is home. if the country is that bad for you then leave.

That was a joke. Which you fell for hook line and sinker, hence my previous comment about your sense of humor. Obviously you cannot take a statistically insignificant sample of one and extrapolate it to represent a whole population.

LOL You obviously did not read a single post on either of the two threads that I began about this very topic. Trust me fella, I WILL LEAVE as soon as I am able, that is once I can regain what was stolen from me.... and I won't miss a GODDAMNED THING about the cesspool that the United States has become. You say your are a proud American. Good for you. Perhaps as an individual you have a lot to be proud of. But as an AMERICAN you've more to be ashamed of then you can even begin to know. You think you are free? That is an even bigger joke than that empty-headed bobo wearing the evening gown.

No matter how you are trying to paint it, she was not some random woman on the street. She was supposed to have been hand-selected to be REPRESENTATIVE OF ONE OF THE BEST YOUNG WOMEN OF HER ENTIRE STATE... of these fifty United States of America. Get it? THAT why it is so sad and ironic.

I called you short-sighted based on your comments alone because you are correct, I do NOT know anything about you. Based on your comments alone, my assessment was accurate and not a slight. How could you even begin to try to defend the joke that the United States has become?

Dude, the once mighty United States is a big joke and a lot of the rest of the world is laughing at us... not WITH us.
