That's simply not true. There's been continuous Jewish presence in Palestine for millenia, even since the great dispersal of the Jewish nation that followed the Bar-Kohba rebellion against the Roman Empire in 135 CE. The Jews have been continuously living there since 1200 BCE - go check any objective archeology survey book. This info is out there.

True but let's not kid ourselves, there were muslims and christians in the holy land too, not only jews. And strangely enough, they all got along. Interesting.

I forget what it is called, but there is some sort of accord we are in agreement with along with all middleeastern countries. It states that none of them shall develop the nuclear bomb. Although it is denied officially, we all know that Israel has the bomb and because we are so tight with them our government ignores it. That is the main reason why they all hate us, you will never hear it on the news because for all intents and purposes the US's official stand is that they don't have nuclear capabilities which is entirely not true. Also the Jewish voting block in the US is large that any politician who would run on a platform consisting of less support for Israel wouldn't have a chance.

The Taliban and other nut ball islamic militant groups have been calling for a Jihad, and have stated that their goal is to control the world so that Islam is everywhere. Sounds really familiar to Hitler's dream of the Third Reich and world domination.

If you thin this is over Israel, you are a fool. This has nothing to do with our support of Israel. That is the excuse that they use to hide their real goal which is world domination.

As for who owned what, the Jewish people owned it first. Then it started exchanging hands after that. The Romans owned it for quite a long time. Hell they executed the religious radical Jesus. It seems that the middle east is constantly breeding religious radicals and nut ball groups all claiming to be doing the work of god.

This is really the root of the problem. These nut cases beat down their citizenry until they are sub-human, and then claim that this is all for god, and the west is to blame.

Of course Desert Storm was over oil. Oil is a vital US interest. Without it we don't have the internet, cars, lightbulbs, air travel, etc.

Wake up liberals. We the US must do things at times to protect our interests and whether or not you agree with the tactics we use, you reap the rewards.

What it boils down to is that you enjoy the benifits of someone else's efforts in doing the dirty work your unwilling to do. And while you live in your glass houses and protest against us, you enjoy those benifits obtained by those who do your dirty work.

i agree chesty. IMO, we support israel because jesus was a jew. that is considered the holy land where jesus lived. jews did live there. this country was founded on god and the beliefs of christianity. i don't think we can turn our backs on the land that jesus came from.

Let's remember that if America hadn't supported Israel so consistently, this whole disaster probably wouldn't have happened. Bin Laden and other terrorists are angry by our consistent support of Israel.

Israel has done a fine job of taking care of themselves. Do they really need our support?

I bet this war will drag on forever since terrorists can lurk anywhere. Wouldn't it just be in America's interest to leave Israel alone?

We should retaliate against Bin Laden for what happened. But long-term our best bet may just be to take away their primary reason for hating us: our support of ISRAEL.........

Aren't you missing the point here Ryan. Terrorists, mostly from the Muslim kind, HATE the US and not only because the US supports Israel.
You must agree the US, being the most powerlful nation in the world, LIKES to put his nose in every part of the world. (I do not critisize that, but it is true). So why is it that no other terrorist-clan has done this before.

Wouldn't the US have supported Koeweit when they asked for it, when Iraq stampeted in to take over Koeweit.

Yes, even without supporting Israel, the US would have helped Koeweit. So here is another reason for the actions done in Manhattan.

Furthermore the US not supporting Israel anymore and it is bye bye Middle East, meaning the US would not longer have a foot in the Middle East. Afterall, wasn't it because the US asked Israel to give back the conquered land, that they did?
Now that was a stupid thing to do, because if this was an act for peace, then where is the peace?

I think Israel is "fighting the good fight." And if any country deserves American support, it is them. And as Americans, we have to defend and provide succor to countries in need.

It's one of the reasons we can be so proud as nation. We stick up for the little guy. We don't just "stand idly by," passive spectators to suffering.

Huhuh Israel should free the occupied territories it stole from the Palestinian. The reason why this is not said on TV and (partly) why the US helps Israel is that the proportion of Jewish in most of the big TV network and in the medias in general is very important.

Also the US do stick up for the little guy when it has some interest for them (the other western countries are just as bad)... Look at the Tibet for example. Thousands and thousands of pacifist people have been killed by Chinese without the US saying anything... yet Tibetans are "little ones" if there are any....

So yes the US does "stand by idle" when people are getting slaughtered.
