The Reality Of The Supplement Ban

Whey is good nutrition for people with sicknesses....I guarantee you they will consider eyeballing whey

that was my concern. a handful of people with pre-existing conditions will suffer kidney damage from taking protein powders and then they will ban the stuff.

Then what are we to all do? eat chicken breasts, milk & tuna all day?

We should be talking with the big GNC's and the Weiders, and the Muscle Mags, and the big supplement companies and finding out how they could best use our little help.

The GNC in my hometown has a stack of petitions they are having customers sign. I thought this a great idea... anyone else see GNC/supp stores doing this?
I think we have almost 100 petitions in our town... and it's a relatively small town... not bad, I don't think...

the government rarely acknowledg petitions

Really? I know very little about politics in general... why would they care little about this, but care more about a few random people calling their congressmen?

Depressive juice is a whiny, lackluster baby. Don't worry about what he says

Nelson- you are absolutely rigth. I woudl like to underscore the imprtance of making a phone call IN ADDITION to writing a letter to your elected representatives. I work for a Congresswoman and know for a fact that calls are easy to ignore unless there are tons of them, however- if you write they will respond (eventually) with a written statement of the rep's position on the subject- letters get logged into the system, as do most calls- but a letter definitely does. If a staffer takes a call and scribbles down your info and doesn't write up a commentary form then your call was worthless. Its harder to ignore a letter. The best bet is to do both. The other important thing is that the call or the letter be from someone in that rep's district. So make sure you contact the rep's for your district. It doesn't hurt to call other rep's but they dont have to respond to you if you aren't in their distric, though some might. The other thing you may want to do is find out what committee in Congress is investigating the issue- and then find out who is on that committee and then send them letters with petitions- try to get established organizations and respected businesses, magazines etc to add themselves to the list- as they will see that and know that each one of those represents a block of voters. The best bet is to get reputable lobbyists to present evidence in our favor. From what I have heard there have been some serious yahoos testifying before congress on the side of the supplement industry.

Unfortunately a Senator from my State (IL) introduced the bill.......

I will try to post some of the important committee information soon as I stil have to research that...
