stae sovereignty means nothing when national sovereignty takes precident over state.
the absolute power big bro will have on the general population will be abused like any other ploy they have used in the past. ie the ssa. as of now the bill of rights doesnt even hold water b/c of the 911 bill that past to ''protect against terorrism''. there is nothing wrong with protecting your citizens. but it should be done with out the abuse of the rights of the citizens

National ID exists in almost every modern nation on the planet. It's called the Birth Certificate.

And since carrying a birth certificate when you're 25 becomes improbable, due being impossible to verify who is who by a mere name -- a picture, a driver's license/passport system, is implemented.

Government becoming a big brother and keeping tabs on everyone, and other fear-mongering notions (funny how these claims only get made when a republican is in the house) is of a concern -- but still nowhere near the government abuse of other nations. We are still far from having a Religious Police of say a Saudi Arabia. Or a racist, carry a passport or you're in Jail Mr Non-Asian, systems of say Japan.

More often than not a "government is watching us" battle-cry is just a happy little catch-all phrase without any substance in anything concrete that is violating our freedoms. When pressed for more details -- few come up with anything besides rhetoric.

btw: Ask any homicide detective how easier it has become to solve crimes, catch murders, catch pedophiles and snag drug dealers through modernization of various electronic computer systems. Back in 1952 you could easily kill someone and slip away into the darkness. Now you can catch a serial murderer with nothing more than a traffic stop.

Therefore, don't ignore the many advantages that has come as a result of computer identity efficiencies, both private and government.

This is actually an argument FOR chip implants, ankle bracelets, big brother, etc.

I'd rather have more criminals on the street AND more freedom, than fewer of both. You know this one, right: They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

You might even know this one: If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

My stance is more about the 10th Amendment.

The existence of the SSN does not make it right. Two wrongs don't make a right homes. We had slavery once too. Was that right?

Illegals will not be affected by this. You already know that this admin and most politicians do not favor enforcement of immigration laws. Juan Gomez will keep doing whatever he is doing, especially in CA.
Homes .....LOL what are you a chicano? ur a dope matthew and u look pretty gangly/homely.

that is a good reply and sentiments are the same. this link you can read thru it and its plain as day where your civil liberties will and are being violated. its intent is noble but the result is the loss of ''our freedoms''.
god forbid your even ''suspected'' b/c you then have no rights b/c of this act.http://www.whitehouse.gov/deptofhomeland/analysis/.
and its not the fact of who democrat or republican is in office. they both will sacrifice the public for their carrer.
