can a mod please sticky this.

there are too many threads going on right now asking questions about the new look of EF and concerns from members of EF. let's limit this to one thread to make it simple.

Please read everyones posts before adding your own, as a question or concern you want stated might of already been posted. this will cut down on the same questions being asked 50x in as many threads. Mods and Admin can respond to just one thread to keep everyone updated on what's going on.

we all understand there are still things that are being done, so at least with only one thread for members and admin to post in, we can all keep tabs on issues with the look and feel of EF.

Also fact that non-plats can actually upload pics into a post- SCHWEET!

Less VB code available (like the tag buttons) in posting

the avatar sizes.....is this going to get evened out? when a plat has a large avatar and a non-plat posts in the same thread, the lines are all kicked out of place. looks bad actually.

No edit button at the bottom of your message window? Theres still some kinks that are being worked out with the new change. Im still having some problems with it myself, but Im sure theyll get it worked out!!
 
Avs should only be 100x100 for everyone.

PLATS should get the ability to have BANNER sized images in their sigs like many other sites allow. That would add to their cool feature much more than a oversized avatar.

I'd like to see a one-stop-shop list outlining all the changes in features, for both plats and the rest of us plebes.

I certainly have no objection to plats getting some new perqs, but am not too sanguine about some of the things that have been taken away from non-plats, like the reduced PM count, the lack of a gallery button, broken file attachments, and only being able to search back 8 messages when doing a search for user messages. I'm hoping that some of these changes are temporary????
 
And what happened to the ability to delete one's own messages?
 
I think gallery should be a plat only option. Why should we take up extra space on EF if we ain' paying. I do however, appreciate the ability to look at galleries now.

But that when you do a search by a username you should get the whole list like you used to.

to take basic features away from non plats is bs imo. if you want to add extras for plats but to be able to see only YOUR OWN last 8 posts in a search is crap

I agree.

Eventually, like someone else mentioned, the changes that will be permanent should be listed somewhere so we can have a clue about what is going on.
 
Why can I not view the gallery pics? I could view them for a day and then now when I click on them it says "You must be registered to view images, Click register at the top of the screen" and then at the top of the screen it shows me logged in.
 
Can non-plats view pictures or not now? So far I havn't been able to download or open a single picture since the change. Certaintly takes the fun out of things.

Also whenever I re-load a page/thread on EF I now geta windows Xp 'Runtimer Error occurred' message. Not sure if this is a problem with EF itself or just my PC but thought I'd throw it in.
 
What about the invisible mode ?

It no longers exists ?

I just noticed the login issue for the first time yesterday; seems I have to go back to the main forum page for the login to really register.

The fact you know nothing is revealed with your question. This is the friggin insane asylum. No one listens to us. We send money, the send features, but other than that we just mumble amongst ourselves.

They never respond to us.

All I know is Digger will kick your ass. :rose: :verygood:
 
I don't like the pic rating system I may take my gallery down. I also have no clue how to hide pics now.

How the hell long is it going to take to fix this? Or is this just a special feature for the non plat members? I thought that when a forum this big changes software there would be some resources reserved to solve the possible problems. :mad:
 
No login problems here at all.

BUT - Are any of the complaints/suggestions ever gonna be answered? Wasn't there supposed to be a chat or gripe session yesterday? Did that go down?
 
Again.... Let me say that we are listening to all your suggestions. Please be patient, we are only about 80% done with all the upgrades. there is still some custom stuff that need to be added in. It will all be done over the next few weeks.

We are taking notes from this thread and we will be making some changes.

Use the "thread tools" option pull down menu.

the issue isn't about clearing cookies, it seems that EF's cookie isn't being saved even though I have set IE to accept all cookies and my security is at it's lowest
 
Another question -- many non-plat plebes have complained that their picture galleries dissappeared, and mine did too. BUT, in old messages that have links to those pictures, the links still work. But the pictures aren't in my gallery. What gives?

If only one thing could be changed, I vote that it would be to allow all users, plats and non-plats alike, to once again attach images to posts such that the image actually appears in the message window, not a thumbnail or a link.
 
i can't post new threads tonight for some reason. this is nuts. it happened to me once before, but after about 10 minutes the problem cleared itself up. it doesn't seem to be clearing up tonight, however. i cleared my cache. still a no go.

also, threads are being marked as read and staying that way for me even though there are new posts on threads. it seems this was happening randomly over the last few days, but as of tonight it's happening a lot more.

viewing pictures in threads (fullsize) is definetly something i'd like to see come back. it kind of defeats the purpose of some threads though when you can't see the picture.

and about the difference between plat and non-plat members - i understand fully that some people choose to support this site financially and they get special benifits from it. that's great for them, and i'm glad they decide to do that. non-plats, however, either don't want to support this site financially or are unable to (i got enough money going out and just enough coming in, sorry, but $12/mo here can be used in other ways when you've got mouths to feed).

remember, EF doesn't get all the traffic it does because people pay a membership fee. if that was the case, i'd make my own site and charge a membership. people come here for the content. so as my own personal suggestion, don't forget about the non-plats (and i am in no way saying that you do.).

don't take my comments as a negative, as that's not how they were meant to be stated. i'll be very honest here, i really do like EF. i've been on other discussion boards in the past and have never really found a place where i felt like i fit in or that the people posting were worth listening to until i found this place. this is a great site. keep up the good work. maybe someday (after college) i'll be able to get myself a plat membership as well. or i could just do like i've intented to do.....enter my photo in the physique contest and win myself a 2 year plat membership. look out contest...here i come :D

For PMs, click on the user's name, and you'll get a pull-down menu that includes sending them a PM.

Still would be nice to see a list of features that have been deliberately changed, added, and taken away. That we'll know for sure, and can stop complaining about things that are going to be fixed or things that are permanent changes, not glitches. It would be nice to know, once and for all, what is a bug and what is a feature.

For example:

No signatures for non-plats
No "Gallery" button for non-plats
200x200 avatars for Platinum members
Non-plats limited to 8 search items
Non-plats limited to storage for 50 PM messages

maybe it's my comp but the add under the first post screws everyhting up....when I go to hit the "back" button nothing happens......

I like the feature that after you post you go to the forum and not the post....

oh, and this "you must spread karma around" yada yada is lame. If someone says multiple really poignant or funny things, they deserve karma. simple. But I understand the "circle jerk" mentality. We need to develop a solid piece of logic to accomodate both.
 
karma should be time based and not spread based. having to "spread" karma will only make more whoring because people will just spread with no reason so they can give karma to a deserving post.

Going forward, the max width for Plat avatars is 170 -- that should fix the width issue.

Plats can have images of any size in their sigs. Let me know if a plat is having a problem with this.

Bro's, let's keep this confined to what's broken. Not a complain because everything is not free thread. A Platinum Membership costs between 29 cents and 19 cents a day depending on the membership you select. We're investing a lot in the site to keep it online and make it better. I hope you will invest just a little as well.

Make sure you are loggen in with the URL www.elitefitness.com and not boards.elitefitness.com -- that and clearing your cookies will solve it.
 
you really got to change all your links. even through expertpcsupport if the links go thru elitefitness.com they're dead to me.

Bug: Gallery Button -- everyone gets a gallery button in posts. Fix in progress.

No sigs for non-Plats -- new policy -- too much advertising in them before.

Avatars - 100x100 non plats and 170x200 for Plats

Non Plats limited to 8 search results -- this is UP from 5 on the old boards -- Plats unrestricted.

Non Plats get 50 message PM box - Plats get 5000 message box.

Plats gallery with unlimited space for photos. Non-Plats only get a 700k of space for their pictures.

The 8 search results also affects searching for user posts. i.e. if I select the "Find more posts by George Spellwin" button, it only returns 8 results. It used to be unlimited.

What will the final disposition be toward file attachments and posting pictures in messages?

Right now, the galleries are free to all. In the future, everyone can still have a gallery and manage the pics in that gallery. Attachments and viewing full size pics in other peoples galleries will become a Platinum feature at some point like it was before. The pics are really VERY costly in terms of bandwidth.

I really hope you will consider upgrading to Platinum -- the new galleries offer a lot of great stuff that we never had before.

Whenever I click on pics in the galleries it says "You must be registered in order to view pics, please register by clicking the link at the top of the page", however at the top of the page it still shows me logged in. I noticed that at first it would do this to me and then for like a day the galleries worked and now they are doing it again. I am confident that this isnt' a cookie issue or anything on my end. I'm not sure if this is a non plat only bug or a general bug.

So just when I got used to being left in thread after posting a reply, now it changes back to taking you to the forums main page.
 
Oh... and it sucks that I can't post full size pics in a thread from my Gallery. What Gives?

I miss it too -- but the goal was to make there be fewer buttons so things were more simple to use. There were so many buttons before -- let me think about this one.

I'll be happy to change it for you -- we just need to make it a little narrower. 170 wide instead of 200 - so the alignment satys correct. Can I do that for you? Also, very cute dog!

Thanks for the explanation. It's just that it happens so often that reading something in a thread gives me an idea for a new thread I want to post. It's a pain in the butt to follow the link to the main forum and click the new thread button there. Seems like you have had the same problem. :)

BTW did you see the business cards I created?

Before the change I always logged in directly on boards.elitefitness.com and I never had this problem. I don't know about the cookie thingy. Earlier I came here daily and cleared the cookies about once in two weeks. And never had the login issue.

Thanks. I thought it would be cool if you had a bunch printed up and sent them out to members to hand out, but no one bought the idea. I liked the idea so much I made up my own. I don't do platinum but it's my way of supporting the site.
