The need for adrenaline

b fold the truth

Anyone else on here just have that need for adrenaline?

That is one of the things that I love about Strongman. EVERY event seems like a battle of intensity, adrenaline, and survival. It takes me back to that primordial state of mind...like a warrior...

Anyone else feel this way about certain aspects in their life (strongman, powerlifting, Martial Arts, BB, etc...)? Please share...

I definitely agree about the rush you get from doing the events and competing...and it feels awesome. The deadlift hold in St louis, and the 5th stone in Nashville gave me the biggest rush ever!!!Its like Im in a whole other place, and things that motivate me flow through my mind, and really get to my emotions.I love it,but I think sometimes you have to cool yourself down,or youll wear yourself out before an event even starts, just from pacing and getting all reved up

i am gettting more that way, b, u know me, i am getting better about controlling my anxiety and letting the adrenaline take over and let me perform. i got a rush at the bluegrass, hitting 5 pr's:) lets hope i do so again at nationals:)

yup

but sometimes being primordial doesnt help...i often forget things (technique, etc) when im all ramped up. its just killing the weight and all that matters. gets hard to think about the important stuff

I think being competitive drives you to do ALL things is life to there limit sometimes-because you know you can push yourself. Just the nature of the beast.

I know where you are coming from...

I have done all kinds of sporting events in the search for this rush. I am doing a submission grappling tournament in the fall and the guys in my club think I am crazy because I am inexperienced. I don't care if I get my ass whipped because once you concede that you can lose, you learn how to win.

I don't even remember doing the events at Nashville. After I was finished with each event I was like "what just happened?". It is an amazing feeling.

Oh yeah. This is why I miss running. That runner's high. The closest I get with weights is the elated, warm-all-over, 2-feet-taller feeling I have after a great workout. Like today! (ME Bench)

Definitly. When lifting, when competing in Martial Arts, when fighting...that rush, that adrenline ;), is the greatest thing in the world. Especially when you realize you are doing things you shouldn't quite be capable of ;). I love that feeling.

I get quite a rush when I put the ball in the back of the net.

On Sunday I did it three times. That had me very fired up. Sends a shiver through your body and gives you a massive lift.

There's also a flip-side. We were level at 3-3 and I had a chance to win the game with a penalty. I hit it near perfectly. Nice and high, if anything was wrong it was a little too close to centre. Somehow, their 'keeper managed to get a hand on it... My stomach sank. Quite a thud to the ground compared to the adrenaline I was running on as I lined up to win us the game. It remained a 3-3 draw.

i feel that way bout strongman. i feel like every event is another test to see how far i can push my body. i love the feelin i get when i'm doin events..such a rush:insane:

Anyone ever play paintball? To me, there is no adrenaline rush quite like it.

I've played many sports in my day, but nothing compares.

I have always felt that there is an indescribable glory in strength training that non-lifters simply can’t understand.

It goes far beyond what people see in your appearance or just the amount of weight lifted. I think it is this attitude that separates freaks from the people that just stay in shape.

There is something that I feel in the split second when I've beat an offensive lineman, and I know that I have a shot at the Quaterback....I imagine it is something like what a Lion feels when a gazelle slips and stumbles and he knows that he's won.

I remember that feeling from when I played defensive end in high school.

Reading that brings back so many memories.

adrenaline is great.......... but for some reason i have never been able to harness it. its like i get it when the going gets tough, but i have never been able to harness that power for myself.
