The Mothman Prophecy

Spoilers************

Did anyone ever see this movie? Creeped me out big time, and I love horror/suspense movies. I thought it would be horrible, but I gave it a chance, and I was shocked at how good it was. Two things however, could have made it a much better movie SPOILER:

He should have picked up the phone at 12noon when the wife supposedly supposed to call. That would have added to the scare factor times ten! And I also think he should have met the Mothman.

awesome movie... but... this happened in the 60's correct?

check out themothmanlives.com

i wonder about this kind of thing.. very freaky

Good movie, but I disagree. If he actually met the mothman, it would have ruined the mothman's mystique which was important to the story.

And he's no pigman. :D

I thought about this a lot after I saw the movie (which was incredible, i agree). First of all, I don't really think there was a mothman for him to meet. The mothman, as i took it, was a strictly spirit or energy presence, not an actual physical person with psychic abilitites. The form people were seeing was just a psychic impression. Also... I think the movie was a lot about self-fulfilling prophecy... things that only come to pass as a result of people's change in behavior upon hearing that thing predicted. Remember, the mothman was wrong. A certain number of people were supposed to die, and one less than that died. This was only because the Gere character refused to let prophecy rule him when he refused to pick up the phone. Instead, he took charge of the situation and was able to make a change (if only a small one). Anyway... if he'd answered the phone, the cop woman would have died, in my opinion. :)
