The melatonin appreciation thread

Melatonin rocks!

I use it every now and then to catch up on my rest. Saturday night, or I guess Sunday morning, I was up until about 5:30 AM, slept 'til about 2:00 in the afternoon so a 10:00 PM I had no desire to sleep. Popped in 6mg of melatonin and bam! I wake up this morning feeling new and refresehed, a little groggy but nothing a tripple shot latte and a couple of cups of coffee can't handle.

Who else uses melatonin?
 
I thought that until age 40 your body produced so much of it supplementation was a waste of $?
my mom uses it a lot she says it helps
 
I know that if you take it too often your body will stop producing it naturally.

I don't supplement with it regularly, I just use it in times of need. Like if I haven't had good (or much) sleep through out the week, I might pop in 2 pills (6mg) on Friday or Saturday night, that'll safely get me 10-12 hours sleep. Or like in yestedays case, if I hadn't taken it I wouldn't have fallen asleep 'til 2:00-3:00 AM.

I have a bit of that right now, but if I had to choose between non-sleep zombiness and this, I'd pick this. My brain can function, things just feel a little fuzzy, with non-sleep zombiness I can't think at all.
 
I used a combo of valerian and melatonin for a while. now I just use bendadryll to reset my sleep cycle when needed. the melatonin and valerian didn't always work.

I play video games in my sleep all the time. Like entire levels and shit. It's exhausting :) I wake up and felt like I haven't slept.
 
i love it!!!

sometimes after a late training session i just cant get to bed i just sit around doing nothing wasting hours cause im too exhausted or worn down to sleep.. hard to explain and doesnt sound right i know but i just pop some melatonin and nighty night..

i also like taking it when i know im gonna get less then 6hrs of sleep cause it makes 4hrs feel lik 8

if that supp ban goes into effect melatonin will be prescription only and im gonna stock up like a madman!!!!
 
Melatonin doesn't really do anything for me. Valerian seems to help, but nothing beats a little G. That is not to be used often though mind you.
 
love it, its amazing for those 9 am exams when your sleep cycle has been 5 am - 2 pm lol
Bran, its about taking it when you need it. I would not make a habit of using it, you do downregulate your own production...It's good if you have benzo addictions though :)

I recently stopped altogether. I was taking it daily along with valerian and zinc and 5htp. Now I just take the zinc and 5htp with valerian once in a while. Look into the 5htp if you've been on ECA for a while and wanna come off. It's helped me a lot.
