The infamous Polygraph

I just thought i'd throw this out their to see if anyone had any experience or knowledge on this subject. Lets say that I have "a friend"....and this friend is applying for a job as a police officer. He's a pretty str8 laced guy...doesn't get into trouble, works hard, and just an an overall law-abiding citizen. Someone that anyone would be proud to hang out with. Well....this "friend" of mine experiemented with a few different drugs when he was younger....like marijuana and exctasy a few times...and has done a few AAS cycles....but nothing further than that. He has to take a police polygraph in a month and is wondering how he can pass it with flying colors. I've heard that these things can't be beat and then i've heard that you can beat them if you learn the right techniques. If my friend divulged everything prior to the polygraph then he would not meet the requirements of the job...such as...Not to have done AAS in the last 4 years. Or not to have done Extecy in the last 10 years...pretty tough standards considering the amount of dirty cops that are on police forces throughout the nation. Any advice people? Any of you ever taken a polygraph?

lol, they are easy to beat. Have your friend put a tac in his shoe. Have him apply pressure from his toe during the control questions such as: "is you name John Brown?" etc...the pain will make his heart rhythm spike slightly renduring the test inaccurate.

I have not done this but knew of a guy who had and he claimed it worked.

i think I'd find something better to do with my time. be a firefighter or coast guard.

Polygraph tests are a joke. All a person has to do is relax and convince himself that whatever answer he gives is the correct answer. Most people will get nervous when they lie, that's what the machine picks up on.

Wouldn't such stimulation cause an R-wave to spike?
The machine is calibrated to control questions.....They just keep asking them until they get a baseline....if you stap your foot every time they just calibrate to that.......plus they will say "stop wiggling your toes."

why wouldn't this work if you only stepped on the tack during control questions, and not during relevant questions? wouldn't it cause a greater response to be perceived from the control questions than the relevant questions?

I took a polygraph yesterday..........fun fun let me tell you, it was by far the worse thing I have ever experienced in my life. The questions they ask are so extensive and comprehensive that I found myself second guessing myself on things that I should not be second guessing. It’s almost like they personify you to be guiltily and that you have to them a guilty conciseness. Being just 23 years old I have my share of fun, (I mean who hasn’t????) But there are definitely regrets throughout life that I wish I could change. The thing with the polygraph is that I felt, (And this is only my personal oppion), is that its almost like they target these regrets and poor decisions and try to bring them out. I can understand if it relates to being an officer or psychology overview but something’s are better let unsaid if they do not cause any harm.

Why did you have to take the test?
