The Girl Talk introductions thread.

23 yrs. old, Asian (Hawaiin-Chinese-Filipino) my hometown is San Diego, Ca. Just moved here from Austin,Tx. I missed Home :(. Is all good though, because I am with my hunnie. It would be better though if Tx have a some good beaches around. I got my own place when I was 19. and my first car when I was 16 ( hyundai excel) it sucks but is better than nothing. I love going to the beach ( mostly I just sunbathe, play volleyball with my friends and have a bonfire party :) ) I am a Animal Lover, I am probably one of those people who would bring an animal home when I see one on the street. I did that a couple of times when I was a kid bring a homeless animal home and my parents would be like. " where did you get this animal and what is it doing at our house?" I'll just basically say " he followed me home , so I let him in" ;)

Hey everyone, my name is Tammy. I live in Alberta, Canada with my boyfriend and our 27 little monsters (we have 3 adult, 1 juvenile, and 23 baby bearded dragons). I work in Diagnostic Imaging doing Xrays and CT scans. I love my job, though being full time now, I am having to reorganize myself to get back into weight training. It is nice to see such a big group, and I look forward to getting to know people (as I often need to draw some more external encouragement!!)

Hello everyone! I'm Beth. I'm new here. I'm from Joliet, IL. Currently I live in Normal, IL and attend Illinois State University. I am in my junior year studying criminal justice. I am here mainly to learn more about ways to lose weight, eat right and eventually get toned.

Aloha Ladies!
I'm Cali, from Hawaii but spend 3-4 months of the year on the mainland. I'm 34, have two kids, married to a 2x World Champion Kickboxer. I am a professional athlete, a Trainer and a Pilates Instructor. We live, eat, breathe fitness and athletics it's never been any other way!
I'm new to posting here but have been lurking for years. I had to re-register because I forgot my password, old name was theprostv. ..... I train 6 days per week, 2 of those being functional training days. My goal is to gain 10 lbs of solid muscle before my season starts so I can better kick some rookie ass!!!!!

Hey Everyone :-)

I finally read through the 11 pages of posts from this forumn, yay! I'm trying to read through, like, at least one entire thread a day, or so until I get more caught up, and have at least all the stickies read. Their is soo much info on here, I can't wait to soak it all up!

I've introduced myself once in the Women's Fitness Forum. I am a 17 year old high school student. Ever since childhood I have enjoyed a broad spectrum of foods, including almost every fruit and vegetable their is (except for peas--i can't stand them for some reason,!) so I'm extremely thankful to my parents for introducing me to these foods. I've been athletic since childhood, also. However it wasn't until the past few years that i've become interested in fitness, and for the past 1 or 2 years i've been oh-so gradually learning more about it. My parents are both overweight, I think my mother may be obese. My mother is great about buying healthy foods, but she knows much less than I do about cooking right (one of my pet peeves is that she cooks things in butter,,...but I am changing that) and exercising (luckily I don't need my parents to motivate me to exercise because I love doing this)~this year i'm trying to sprad my knowledge to my parents, because the more they learn about food, especially, than the easier it will be for me to get myself in the shape i want to be. Plus, of course I want my parents to be more healthy! -- And they are :-) Often I go shopping by myself and introduce foods to my parents. I am glad that my about-to-graduate-from-college sister is healthy and fit because two voices are better than one.

The reasons I enjoy fitness-the thing that I, in a sence, choose to surround my life with (because their are so many things a person can excel at...) are endless. Besides making myself look and feel terrific, fitness is something that can be constantly improved throughout your life. It's not like speech team or drama club that ends for most people at high school. Not to say that these things are bad-I just get really excited about things when I join, and i'd hate to have to give up something that I love. Even worse for me would be to join the party crowd. I have partied a few times a while back and realize how addicting it is, so if I fell into that crowd it would be a bad bad thing. Yuck...I can do better things with my high school years. I can't wait to learn more and more about fitness, nutrition, and exercise, so I can continue to improve myself. In a big way fitness occupies free time that could be spent doing self-destructing habits, like sex and alcohal (at my age), or even worse, doing drugs.

I know a lot already but the more I practice it, the more ideas become ingrained in my habits and therefore freeing up more space in my head for more ideas! now isn't that exciting?!

See you guys around
-Jessica-

PS. I love how friendly you all are! Isn't it interesting that healthy people tend to be the nicest? :artist:

Hey Im 23 from Ontario. I have been wrking out since I was about 16...A uni student now taking Kinesiology and psych. Looking to compete in the next few yrs in fitness...

Hello, I'm 26 and I've been living in St. Louis for almost 7 years. I was born in NYC (my parents are dominican & puertorican) and lived there till I was 15 when I moved to the Dominican Republic with my parents. I lived there till I was 20. I have a 7 year old little boy and a 2 year old Black Lab. I've been with my boyfriend for about 6 years.

Anyway, I'm here looking for some help on dropping the 50 lbs I've gained since I moved here. I've been loving all the info I've gotten so far.

Hi everyone!

My name is Heather. I am 35 years old, single, and no children. I have a Yorkie named Corky and two cats named Margaret Thatcher and Eleanore Roosevelt. I am a lawyer, and I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. I think that I may be getting engaged soon and moving to Florida to be with my fella. :qt:

I am just getting back to the gym after letting it slide for about a year. I was working long hours and taking care of my mom, who died of cancer on December 6th, 2005. Now that I have a little more time for myself, I am trying to get back to my old self.

Well, it is great to meet you all. I have been lurking for a little over a week.

Heather

Hey my pleasure. :):) This thread was been rolling two years now. Clearly it's the best contribution I've made to EF in the three years I've been around. :lmao:

Welcome Barbra. I see you're by no means new. You should post more frequently, honey! :artist:

Hi! I'm April - 32, live in Atlanta. Relatively new to Elite but not to fitness. I taught fitness/lifting classes for a while (still sub on occasion), then decided to earn my personal training certification several years ago. Truly enjoyed the work, but decided to go back to the corporate world - money, of course! I love to help others, but I certainly remain teachable!

Glad to be here!

Thanks QT and Bunny! I will most certainly do that....

Hopefully platnium doesn't have the same problems. If so fill out a support ticket it is only suppose to take 60 seconds in between posts.

I was thinking we need a thread set aside to get to know one another a bit. Everyone can share as little or as much as they would like to introduce themselves.

My real name is Sulma, just turned 21 last month and am originally from Mexico. I"ve lived in the suburbs of Atlanta Georgia since I was 6 years old. I'm a fulltime billing clerk in an outpatient alcohol and drug treatment center, and a 3/4 time student. I'm just starting my third year and still havent decided on a major. And I just celebrated 16 months with the same guy, which is a huge thing for me, LOL.

Next.....:D

Hi Girls,

Newbie to this forum. My real name is Jennifer and I'm a 43 year old mother of 2 girls, 11 and 14 year old. Have been back into lifting since the beginning of February of this year and have managed to lose 17 lbs of fat and can now tolerate the way I look. Just nicely hitting a plateau though.
Does anyone else ever get confused on how much or little you should be eating. Just curious.

Hola Jennifer. :)

I'm guessing when you say "how much" you should be eating you're referring to the number of calories? If so, it makes it far easier to just plan a week's worth of meals in advance, where you have already counted the calories, then just keep recycling those same meals. Removes the need for daily counting. To maintain the reduced weight you're at now you could probably eat about 200-300 more daily than you did while losing fat.

You might want to check out the diet forum too.

Thanks for the good advice.

Still need to lose 10lbs though ( well at least I think it's 10) I'm only 5ft 6inches so I don't think I should be more than 130 to 135, even though muscle weighs more than fat.

Hi,

I have been lurking around here for a while and finally decided to post. I am married with no kids. I have a day job and I also bellydance professionally on the weekends. I also do Hula and other ethnic dances. I decided to get back into lifting since my weight/bodyfat has been creeping up since I was 35 years old. The dancing alone just isn't cutting it anymore. I use to lift during my college days and do martial arts. Now all I have been doing in dancing. I have been researching on all the new diet and fitness information and want to start a lo-carb/lifting program. I'll be signing up for the gym next week. I got a ton of info from this site! I'll post my diet/training log with my stats in the training section once I start (next week). This place is the best!

Hey everyone, I'm 28, been weight training for 2 years. Within the past month, I haven't been to the gym very much, boyfriend and ex-husband problems, not to mention I have a 13 year old. When I first started weight training, I joined a bodybuilding site, which really helped me stay focused, being exposed to other people who are fitness-minded. So, that is my purpose of joining. Hope to be accepted by everyone. I'm not offended easy, so give me all the crap you want, no big deal. I'm pretty goofy myself. :D

I hear ya on the dating thing! My advice is just to be yourself and know that you can meet someone absolutely anywhere, even where you least expect it - I asked a guy out at Starbucks!

Hello Ladies! I did a pretty thorough job of filling out my profile so check it out and feel free to get to know me via the boards.

Hello ladies! My name is Michaellyn. I'm from Sioux Falls, SD. I use to be pretty serious into bodybuilding when I was younger. I got pretty ill a few years ago. Some of the meds they had me on made me put on a little bit of weight. I'm wanting to lose some weight and get back into shape. I have a little boy named Seth. He just turned 8.

Hi Everybody,
I'm Debi - joined EF in Oct 08. Joined at 130 & the other day weighed in at 118, so something's working!! I live in Brooklyn, Ohio a small suburb of Cleveland, but live close enough to enjoy seeing the Cavs play at Quicken Loans Arena, the Browns at the Stadium, along with many many groups, singers who come to town. I have 2 girls but they can take care of themselves. A husband??? Long story - made short. He's been in a coma since Christmas Day 05, is completely paralyzed and left leg amputee. So, at this point in my life I'm lost. Always hold out hope for a "maybe" or "miracle" but it doesnt look like its in the plan. So my thoughts are, 'where am I, who am I, what do I do? Would never leave him but feel 'empty' inside. Came to EF hoping to get some ideas on how to get into shape, wanted to make some friends, have someone to chat with. Some things are working out ok, others arent. Overall, everyone has been great on EF with the exception of today - made the mistake of posting in Chat about returning from Vegas (a 3-day rest) and I got slammed by the guys there. Not a pleasant experience. But we live and learn, and we learn by our mistakes.
I am an RN and do homecare right now. Would love to move to a sunny climate but that will come in time. Would love to get to know some of you better. Have had the pleasure of meeting Tatyana & being greeted by her which was nice.
Thanks for listening to my life story!

Well hello ^_^

Hey girls!New here and thought i'd say hi. I'm 29 years old, 5'2 112 lbs. I'm in pretty decent shape but I would like to tone up some. I enjoy running, and riding bikes. I've tried lifting weights, but it just feels so un-natural to me. I think my biggest down fall is my diet, and hope to learn a lot from others here.

Hi guys! I'm 21 years old, 5'7, 145 lbs, high performance athlete. I'm just here to share thoughts and experiences with other female athletes, on training, nutrition, anything that's relevant really.

Trinae here (think Renee with a T in the front). Let's see, I'm 35, 5'10", 190lbs, looking to gain a little more mass and better definition. I’m also a co mom with my partner of ten years. I work as a legal secretary by day and online literary magazine publisher at night. Somewhere in between I'm an aspiring novelist. Looking forward to growing physically and intellectually as I read more. Oh, and I here that when I am not being a bitch, I am a really great gal. *smile*

Hey all,

New to the forum, getting back into the fitness game. Had a motorbike crash in march last year left me out of the gym up until April just gone. So needless to say I’m in bad shape but I’m working on getting back to where I was to start off with and then to get even better! Looking forward to chatting with you gals and getting some tips on how to get to where I want to be.

I live in Perth Australia although I am originally from the UK. I’m 21 work fulltime and have a great partner who also works out (which is great for extra motivation)

Speak soon!

Olivia (aka Smiffins)
