The ever changing regulars on forums...

T-Rage

New member
I am a member of two other non bodybuilding forums that I was on all the time around 6 months to a year ago. I go back every now and then to see if I recognize any of the member names of friends I had made. The sad thing is it seems my old buddies who were all over those forums when I was are no longer there and a whole new group of regulars are now running the boards.

It's kind of like not watching MadTV for a year or two and turning it on to find that your favorite cast members are missing.

I have been on this forum for probably 6 months now and love it. And of course I've been posting like crazy as has Lee, Spatts, BFold, Debaser, casualbb, CoolColJ and many others.

I wonder if in 6 months from now we will have moved on or a new group of regulars will have taken over. It's kind of fun to watch who comes and goes and who sticks around and goes the distance.

When I get on my computer and go through the forums it kind of like hanging out with friends. These forums provide a very convenient way to be social.

And finally I believe the forums such as this one are the best things to come out of the internet.

T-Rage, I have been around almost 2 years, and I'm not going anywhere. There's a "batch" of regulars common to each board (Women's, Training, etc...) that have been around a long time, and new people come and go, many stay. We do have a solid core group, though.

Personally, I think the training board is the best board on Elite and on the Net. There are so many backgrounds here, so many different academic degrees, sports represented; it seems like everyone has something unique to offer, and does so without hesitation. We have everyone from "Abercrombie Model" physiques, to Elite powerliters, to Pro Strongmen and Women, Pro figure/fitness, Pro BB, even a national speed skating champion. Who knows, we may have an NFL star on our hands real soon. :)

We have people with PhD's in molecular genetics, chiros, PTs, OTs, nurses, doctors, researchers, physiology professors that teach at med schools.

This board is FULL of top notch contributors. I can't imagine the learning experience I'd miss out on by not being here.

i've been here for almost a year, and it's funny because I've noticed the same thing....

I'd have to say I miss Mr. X's posts the most

Mr. X is stil around and still a mod, generally posts on diet, and has his own board now. He's not gone. :)

I guess i'm a regular here and people leave quite often and it's upsetting to see, but there are new faces quite often which is what makes this board so fun, along with the other regulars. :)

I tell everybody about this board. "If your really serious go to Elitefitness.com" I don`t know if they do, but at least they heard it from me first, So when they eventually DO find it and see its GREATNESS, they`ll say "you were right" lol

btw my wife`s an OT. It`s just good to see someone mentioning OT because I think they get little respect. Everybody knows what the PT is.

I wouldn't be here if I didn't believe in it...

I'm not going anywhere.

It's kinda funny...for a while I was uber-hardcore on the HST boards. I would go like multiple times each day. I'm still a huge supporter of the program, perhaps even moreso now than I used to be, but now I post here three times as much as I do there. Why? It's boring when everybody agrees with you :D

Yep, people come and go, it’s a shame in a way, or at least they change their screen name (although more so those that post on the more controversial boards, for legal reasons a lot of the time).

I first came to Elite back in 2000, if any of you guys where around then you will certainly know that there has been a massive change for the better on the training board. Anabolic has always been busy, but back then there where very few posts and even fewer with knowledge or constructive debate on training.

People will stay as long as there is valuable information and challenging debate, we never stop learning!

Long live those who are informed but question the norms (no names casualbb) :anon: :)

yeah i was and still am a regular on another board that is slowly dieing, been reading here since january, finally joined, but still enjoy mostly reading.....it's funny i've read so many posts on this board i feel like i know many of u but of course u don't know me lol....

How about more people filling out their profile and putting pics in their gallery!

When someone peaks my interest, I like to "check them out" so to speak...very dissapointing when it is empty!

Come on...it only takes a minute!

Then maybe you should tell us about yourself. :D

sure thing spatts... i've been training for 2 years, took about 4 months off due to a shoulder injury, been at it again since february.... 24y/o M, 240#'s 6'2 about 20%bf. started training for general health, but now want to start focusing on lowering bf to possibly start playing semi-pro/college hockey....i live in halifax and i'm going back to school to become a paramedic in august....

too much? not enough, i never know what to say about myself, anything you want to know just ask.....

I'm always turning my pics off and on....although my profile's usually blank. I figure everyone knows me. lol

Nice to meetcha SOUPERMAN! My pappy's from Halifax by way of Truro. I always wanted to go hiking up there. Looks beautiful.

I am a moderator on the training forum of www.anabolicfitness.net

I like this forum because, like people have already said, there is a lot of eclectic backgrounds here. There also seems to be a lot less flaming than on other boards on elite. I also like helping out younger lifters here since this is where most start on the internet.

A really nice forum you have here Spatts.

Thanks, but it's not my forum. We're a team!

I like this forum for general information and some in depth but I'm also a regular on www.musclemayhem.com board. This is the only message board on the net that has regular pro bodybuilders (tom prince, dennis james, bob chick, king, fitness and female competitiors, nutrition guru chad nicholls, and many more) that post daily and answer questions. Musclemayhem isn't nearly as good as this forum as far as answering questions on a diet, what excersise is better for this group, etc... but more for finding out up to date information on contests, competitors, and whats going on it the competition. Highly recommended... EF forever though.
