The Collegeguy will be going into the Army in Mid Nov

I'm in the same boat as you Txcollegeguy. I leave for my basic training in 10 days. I'll be heading to Ft. Leonard Wood. My mos is 95B. I'll be at basic 9 weeks, then my A.I.T is 10 weeks. I got a friend who just finished basic at Ft. Benning. He said it was pretty easy.

Good luck

Ah have fun. :) I went through basic over 10 years ago at Ft. Dix in NJ. Drop a line if you can when you make it to GA. Are trainees allowed access to computers today? PCs where quite what they were when I went through it.

lol Latimer I'm straight as can be so thats not a problem....I'm going in as a 31U

I will finish my basic after the New Year my AIT school is 20 weeks. I really hope I can volunteer for Airborne school while I'm there instead of waiting till I get to Ft Hood to put in the request for it....If i can get into Airborne and RIP training then I'll be at training schools for almost a full year

Best of luck to you bro! I was in from 93-96 as a 12B (combat engineer) stationed at Hood. All we did was go to Austin and Bryan college station every weekend! That shit was the best!:D Sixth street in Austin is one of the best party places around. Is the coopertank still around? You'll enjoy your time in. I was airborne as well as Ranger qualified. Airborne school is a joke- around three weeks, but Ranger school sucked ass. It was one of the main reasons I left the military (besides the fact that I left to get my degree). After getting my Ranger tab, I was attached to a Ranger detachment at West Fort Hood. All we did was field training, which once you get in, you'll know what I'm talking about. I would go to NTC in California, which is located in the Mojave desert for a month at a time. Which to a lifter is death. Let's just say we were lifting rocks and doing tons of push-ups just to keep our mass. Here's a tip- hoard every MRE you can! They pack about 3500 calories in one meal. I loved them! All in all, you've made a great decision. I have no regrets. ;)

good luck bro. good thing you are trying for airborne and ranger. you'll meet up with some real badass guys in those units. keep your shit tight and keep your head out of your ass and you will be alright. there are a lot of DUMB fucking people in the army but on the other hand some of the best people i ever met were in the army.

Have fun my friend. i met last night at splash 3 high ranking army guys from san angelo. one is going to Alaska. they seem to have lots of fun as did i so one thing is don't drop that soap if you know what i mean. enjoy yourself.
