The Bourne Supremacy-Best Movie of the summer

Easily the best Movie of the summer.Keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish and never lets up.Matt Damon kicks ass in the role yet again,as the ever paranoid yet at times vulnerable Bourne. This one gets a huge thumbs up from me,and I recommend everyone to go see it.

Yep,opened today.Every Friday is movie day with the kids,so we always try to be the first ones there for the new releases.

This one was right up there with Bourne Identity,an excellent movie all the way around.

watched Bourne Identity tonight to prepare for supremacy tomorrow night

the first one kicked so much ass, and i cant wait for the second now!

I really have to star watching more tv. Another movie I didnt even know was out.

The first was a major disappointment. I read the books, and that was some of Ludlum's best work. The movie was barely recognizable.

There was supposed to have been a tv movie with Jacklyn Smith and someone else. Did anyone ever catch that?

I love goin to the movies.....but i would love to go to a R rated movie without kids:)

Huck,

LOL

If it had been just an "action flick" I would likey have enjoyed it far more. But going in with expectations from the books, which are an incredible read if you haven't already done so, I couldn't help but feel let down.

In the books the Bourne character is a guy who lost his family, became a special forces person in Vietnam, and was eventually trained by US intelligence to force Carlos the Jackal (built to mythical proportions) out of hiding. The boat accident (which in the book was a failed assasination attempt against Bourne) and the amnesia are more or less true to the story, but it goes out in a seperate direction from there. In the book for example Bourne is an intellectual who just happens to be the rest. His "gf" and eventual wife wasn't a hapless drifter but a Canadian government official. They were extremely captivating characters. The movie was more or less just fight scenes loosely tied together by a weak plot line

I liked the movie myself, but have not read the book.....I'll have to look for it next time I'm at the library.....

But I can understand the point about the movie & book not being comparable...

Jen, if you like action/espionage novels they you would likely enjoy the Bourne trilogy. Have yet to meet anyone who hasn't.

What makes them especially interesting is that Ludlum places each book in a different part of Jason's life, so that by the third book he is no longer young and fast, but slowed down some by age, and has to do thinsg without all the physical skills he once possessed. Great read

Can't read Tom Clancy tho.....wasn't able to follow him.....

Well I disagree about the movie plot being weak, but you have definitely caught my interest in the book! Now I'm going to have to go out and by it!:)

For some perspective, I think the Lord of the Rings trilogy was the only book to movie that didn't disappoint me. I'm also not much of a movie buff.

It is amazing what they can do with special effects nowadays. If the screen writer is talented, the drop off for these movies shouldnt be as bad as they once were.

I really like the Hunt for Red October movie too. Tom Clancy's book was better, but the movie was a good adaptation IMHO, probably mostly due to the cast.

Forge,

I've never been a big fan of Clancy, or in a different genre, King either. So the movie adaptations of their books don't disappoint me

One awful thing about Bourne Supremecy was the camera.

I realize what they are trying to do with the moving and shaking of the camera during fight scenes and car chases, but it was in excess to the point of making a person puke.

i'm with jerseyart on this one. of course, it's often true that a good book will not end up as a good movie. there are notable exceptions...the godfather, for example. considered one of the greatest films of all time, but i don't think the novel itself was considered all that good. maybe that's an assumption though, because i've read one of mario puzo's other novels (the last don) and it was an utter piece of horseshit.

anyway, i like watching films after having read the books that they're based upon, so i can compare. but it's usually a disappointment for me.

i've read the bourne identity and the bourne supremacy (and a few others of ludlum's)...he's definitely considered a legend/master when it comes to this genre. the books themselves are good popular fiction, page-turners if you will, but not my idea of really good writing.

as for the movies...when i saw the bourne identity...my reaction was almost immediate and strong. that movie sucked. matt damon could never play that role, he's just wrong for it from the beginning (too young, for starters). his delivery of lines is great...for an average kid. and the way they changed the storyline was too much for me.

i'm sure this one will suck too. it can't be helped. good fight scenes and chase sequences perhaps...

identity was one of my favorite movies

I am glad I didn't read the book

I read books about how to make money

I watch movies to get out of reality :)

amp pharm is right about the camera in this movie

it was waaaay too shakey.

you start to see his transformation from killer to wise older guy. it was much sadder than the first movie.

didn't particulary like in your face camera angles that made things blurry / dizzy during fight/chase scenes...besides that, like the movie alot.

The 2nd Bourne movie is based 0.01% on the book. The book was so much better.

In the book, you nearly pissed your pants when Bourne had to watch as the Bourne Imposter turned his friend over to the other people and they decapitated him.

Gotta agree on that one, at first I thought it was the 6 gallons of hot grease that gave me in the place of popcorn, but it was the camera action.

Great movie though! (still don't buy Damon as a badass)

I saw it yesterday. I enjoyed it- they managed to make it more violent than the first movie. I needed to have a dose of furious action. It seemed cheap that they used the same Moby song and credit design at the end of the movie.

Those of you who don't see Damon as a badass should imagine the stunt double in his place.

LOL

To make matters worse, we had to sit in end seats on the very front row.

Good thing I had a good looking date to stare at during the bad camera parts. That was until he looked over at me and said "what the hell are you staring at?!"
Just kidding it was a girl.

Honestly.

When did you go? I went at 7:30.
We were going to go at 9:40, but it was sold out. I ended up at the 10:10 though. See, you just missed me....and it's totally your loss. :qt:

Almost every book turned movie uses the book as a very loose concept for the movie line. Most movies are pretty good as long as you don't try and see the book and the movie as the same story.

I'm not sure what direction they will go with in Bourne Ultimatum since they killed off Marie.

I still enjoyed the movie and for it's purpose the book's concept worked nicely for an entertaining action drama. (Or mabye I'm just partial to Matt Damon.)

Richard Chamberlain starred with Jacklyn Smith in the tv version.

I'm going to see the Bourne Supremacy tonight. Looking forward to it; I liked Indetity.

One movie I thought was actually better than the book = Mystic River.

Velvett,

You're a Ludlum fan? I know its not great literature, but for me the books beat most everything on tv nowadays.

Thanks for the heads up on the tv film. I've checked video stores looking for it, but never had much success. Smith sounds perfect in that role, and Chamberlain seems workable as well. I understand about keeping seperate views on each, it's simply that when a book you really enjoyed is made into a film you can't help but become a little excited.

Ever read Lustbader's work? The Nicholas series was pretty good.
He did a fourth book to Ludlum's series, although I've never read it.

LOL, Lustbader too huh:)

You really are a fan of the genre. His writing is pretty hot at times.

I hate the post mortem books attached to Ludlum. What a rip off

:chomp:

Yeeeeesssssss. :)

Yah, I'm not a real big fan of that either.

it was an awesome movie, but christ enough with the hand held shaky camera shit, i couldnt even see what was going on in the fight scenes and the climactic car chase. All in all, i liked bourne identity much better

I agree that guy that directed it is the worst director ever. He ruined the fight with the other assasin and the car chase. He must be one of the shitiest directors ever. Why would they let that moron direct such a cool movie.

Exactly! It didn't help that I had been drinking before I went to see the movie! :worried:
