I finished Nelson's book yesterday, and I thought I would give my assessment of it.
Firstly, it is a really easy read, not complicated, straight forward.
It is also not one of those HUGE books that when you get it go, OMG, too MUCH, and set it on the shelf to collect dust, or think, there is NO WAY I am printing all that out.
It is hilarious in a few places, I laughed out loud four times while reading it.
It was not what I expected, but it was a pleasant surprise.
It covers EVERYTHING that is related to bodybuilding, training advice, diet advice (and for those of you like KISS - keep it simple stupid), it is just awesome.
Me being a woman, I do like to complicate things a bit more.
The things he recommended for diet (his list of foods to eat, etc) were almost like a checklist of my own diet.
It also covers the history of bodybuilding, all of the significant people, and let me tell you, this information is NOT all that easy to come by, those chapters were like brain candy for me.
He also covers supplements, and these chapters are worth the entire book, the history of the supplement industry, effective supplements. This alone would save you the cost of the book probably 10 x over.
If you are just starting out, I would recommend this book, actually, I would almost say that is is mandatory reading if you plan on living the bodybuilding lifestyle.
It is like the wisdom of elders (I had to Nelson
), and it could cut out at least 5 years of that steep learning curve we all have to go through when first getting into BBing, and also ENDING a few bad habits that a few of us have developed over the years.
If you have been training for awhile, it is still full of great information, and I am sure I will be going back to it to review some of the training information to break plateaus.
Well done Nelson, I am impressed, you really know your stuff and present it in a way that is just so easy to understand, and enjoyable to read.
