this lady i work with always does too because she hits the big day after turkey day sales. screw going out in that mass of humanity

I travel that weekend. Makes for a nice short vacation.

In the D.C. Area, most (if not all, except malls, grocery stores, etc.) shut down on Thursday and Friday. I've had the Friday off (holiday leave) since I moved here.

thanksgiving is always on a thursday bro.

i always get thursday and friday off.

Banks and Postal Service will be "Business As Usual" on the Friday after Thanksgiving. And the malls and stores will be packed to the gills.

Oh yeahhhh!! Thursday is Thanksgiving Day - all is closed; Friday is Black Friday - all the shopping malls will be packed to the gills, some good sales tho if you can stand being out in the shit.

Where I used to work, we were open Friday, technically, but a skeleton crew only. The whole office was closed in general, but a few people had to work. So some businesses/companies may be open, some may be closed - it usually varies. As for Friday - check with your bank, etc to see if they're open as some choose to be closed, but most do not - being Black Friday they may want to pick up some business with everyone being out.

Satch nothing shuts down here in the US. We are a money hungry arrogant country. Stores are even open on Christmas! It's a shame that people just can't get together with family and friends during the holidays. It's work! work! work!.....So too answer your question some things may shut down early 5 or 6 pm on Thanksgiving (thur) but thats it. Business as usual the rest of the weekend. At least I get Thur and Fri off of work paid ;)

Around where I live, everything is closed during the day - well except for some gas stations & 1 particular restaurant.......but at night after 6/7pm is when the bars reopen!! I guess so you can go out & drink aftert spending the day with family!! :lmao:
