A discectomy on L5s1 this time...I think that's what my surgeon wants to do.

An L5 discectomy? Thats no joke, you must have shattered the body of your vertebra with compression of your cord to have that kind of surgery right? What kind of mobility will you retain after the prosthetic disk is inserted?

Its basically removal of the largest vertebra in your back, the one immediately superior to the sacrum and the one that bears the most weight. That bone is one big fucker, it takes a lot to damage it, thats why I'm curious as to what happened.

Its from years of thinking I was tougher than I really was.

This procedure use to be much more serious warpath. Also, although there is damage to the vertebrae, the surgery deals primarily with the disc(no bone removal). So, its not too bad.
