Test vs free test

What would cause your free test to be low if your total test is normal?
Any easy ways to fix this?

Total test 969 lab says normal is 348-1197
Free test 5.7 lab says normal is 8.7-25.1

So total test is near the top of normal but free is below normal. Kinda confused by this.

This was from my yearly check up they ran like 3 pages of values. Only other thing that was off was

Glucose was 114 and normal is 65-99

Testosterone in your body will bind to two proteins, SHBG, and Albumin, this testosterone is essentially unusable for desirable purposes. However, NOT ALL testosterone will bind. This testosterone is free to bind to androgen receptors to aid in strength and muscle building. Boys go through puberty when their bodies allow more free testosterone to be present, so your free test levels will increase up until roughly your mid late twenties or early thirtys and then slowly start to drop when your starts to increase levels of SHBG and albumin. You can increase free test by either adding more testosterone to the body or to take medicines which competitively bind to SHBG. Your doctor will probably decide the second choice is optimal.

thanks I think that was enough info to find the cause...

anti-psoriatic drugs that inhibit TNF-alpha cause an increase in SHBG

Now to check with DR for something to stop that.
