has anyone with tedonitis in there elbows know of a way to work out witout pain or further damage?ive been layin off for a little while and was wondering if theres a cheat so to speak.

sometimes I get a dull ache in the elbows. I really try and warm them up, plus I wrap a thin layer of fabric to keep heat in the elbow. The best remedy is to take extra rest days and cut down on the number of exercises. I know that many of us use high intensity, but it doesn't hurt to cut back a bit especially if you are precarious to injury. Nutrition wise, add glucosamine and flax-seed oil to the diet.

take time off.. if you don't you're just hurting yourself in the long run.. a week or so off training never hurts anyways.

the above mentioned plus you might want to leave out or replace a few exercises for a short time:

- stop doing lying barbell or dumbell french press for a short while

- use V-shape pressdown instead of straight bar

- use dumbell presses instead of barbell presses

- use EZ-barbell curl instead of straight bar

- heavy upright row, they can mess up the rotator cuff as well
as the elbow

when elbow feels better you might gradually re-introduce those exercises again, but pay special atrention if their is one of them that doesn't fit you....

Try 25mg of Vioxx per day for about 10 days and go to your local pharmacy and get some tennis elbow splints. You will be amazed as to how much they will help.

I seem to have elbow problems from time to time, LOTS of stretching of the tendons, and good deep trigger point massage
will help ALOT, and then of course easing up on them a bit in the
gym, but sometimes that's hard to do!

Glucosimean and Condriotin. I don't know the spelling, but it is supposed to help repare cartilage. I used it for my tennis elbow pain was gone in 1-2 days. And use Flexall

Shorten your tricep workout down to ONE exercise and pick one that does NOT hurt at all. Try lying dbell tric extensions...

Also...warm up your elbows with super high rep tricep pushdowns before you train ANYTHING. Get some elbow sleeves from Wal-Mart and wear them. Put IcyHot on your elbows before bed as well as before and after your lifting. Prevent the pain and it will eventually go away on it's own. I prefer Zostrix HP...works well but is SUPER hot.

Use alleve or ibuprofen also...prevent the pain.

Glucosimean and Condriotin.i heard that this is for joints?can it work on tendons or the elbow?? im taking some time off at the moment but i heard nothing but good stuff about these to supps.please let me know.thanks

Decline tricep extensions seems to be one of the few exercises that don't bother my elbow

also work yoru biceps before you do triceps, it does help to give a bit of cushion from teh pumped bicep

Read my post again. In my sport...injuries are like food...you just have to bare with it. Find ways to train around them..

Mine are flaring up again!! I plan to take a few days off of upper body training. I was in the gym today and I had some aching. For biceps, I performed standing cable curls and machine preacher curls for 3 sets of 12 reps. That really helped the aggravated tendons. All of the stress went stress to the muscle bellies. If joint pain is really bad, a lay off is good or machine training can come in handy.

Someties the muscle outgrows the tendon. I have that problem with bi's. During my bicep workout, the elbow screams but the strength keeps increasing. After about four weeks, it did not get better but did not get worse so it's just some pain I have to work through until it heals itself. Just about every part of your body will go through some type of resistance to the punishment at some point. If you look back on all the pains you've had doing this, it would make you laugh at why you do it. But it's the sanctity of the gym, unless you do it, you don't understand.

That might be the case. I have medium sized elbow joints, and good sized muscle bellies. Its weird, I use heavy weight with good form. Maybe the tendons are exhausted and want rest. I could probably use the extra rest.
