teehee, look at me, I'm not on steroids

Nothing to be ashamed of bro. More respect to you than I have for the wannabe that takes them because "he has to" to fit in with the crowd.

Bino's a good sized dood. He's just put muscle on everywhere instead of focusing on individual body parts.

Really? So BB'ers build muscle the same way as PL'ers?

And before anyone goes into how muscle develops on a scientific level, I meant Bino doesn't look like he focuses on individual body parts and doesn't wear shirts 2 sizes too small so he can check himself out every time he walks by a reflective surface, sizing others up because of their build.

Lifting, eating, sleeping. Right? Then I'd say yes.

But I know what you mean. Powerlifters aren't judged the same as bodybuilders, so comparing the two methods is an argument I don't want to start. You know as well as I do that powerlifters do more core lifts which utilize a wider array of muscle movements while bodybuilders focus on yes, individual muscle groups. Doesn't mean BB'rs don't perform these core movements.

lol @ tight shirts

maybe it's bc we can't help that they're tight? :qt:

PW'rs, BB'rs, I love them all.

PL's do lower reps, higher weights, one rep maxes - strength

BBer use higher reps, less weight - hypertrophy

Yet to discover a comprehensive reason, other than pure vanity, to why any man would exert so much time and effort, to the detriment of his long term health, to achieve an oversized body? It could almost be classed as some kind of distorted self-image disorder.

Oh, they have some name for it, bigarexia, one lives and learns.
Hi my names Hugeguns and I’m a bigarexic,
here, hold my protein shake while I fit a set in between each breath I take

thanks for clarifying that dr.mouse, never heard the term before, so are you saying rather than being vain that you actually suffer from some type of diagnosable mental illness?

For awhile I really wanted to get big. I was almost going over to the dark side. I still might one day, but for now I don't mind just being fit.

Yes I see nothing wrong with wanting to look like a god and bone queens all my life. :)

The term "Adonis Complex" is not a medical term. It is being utilized to describe a variety of body image concerns which have been plaguing boys and men especially through the last decade. It does not describe any one body image problem of men, rather all the distortions collectively.

The term was extracted from Greek mythology which depicted Adonis as half man and half god who was considered the ultimate in masculine beauty. Adonis' body, according to sixteenth-century perspectives, was representative of the ultimate in male physique. According to mythology so beautiful was his body that he won the love of Aphrodite, queen of all gods.

Most of the really big BBer's got really big by training as PLer's. After they were huge they started training more like BBer's.

how would you classify anorexia nervosa? How about bulemia? You know, when those skinny girls look in the mirror and still see a big fat girl? Just curious.

they are all similiarly classified as forms of body dysmorphia, there is a well known program at Mass General Hospital with a treatment center. My brother was there and told me it is equally populated by both men and women, it seems with men our greatest risk is steroid abuse, whereas for women it is much more severe - starvation, etc...

Here is the book that summarizes, the main author is at Mass General

true story about weight lifter's dysmorphia:

a few years back, at the end of a test/winnie/eq run, i was constantly disappointed in what i saw in the gym's full length mirrors...was convinced i hadn't gotten anywhere close to the results i was expecting, was wondering if my stuff was under dosed or fake.

i then made my 4 time a year road trip to my best friend/broly/partner in higher acts of stupidity's house in tennessee. upon arrival his wife was looking at me rather strangely. as she never did like me all that much, i ignored her stares.

the next morning (afternoon, actually) i came stumbling out of the bedroom wearing only boxer briefs, haveing been awakened by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee.

my broly's bro-in-law hadn't seen me the last time i was there....his eyes got big, he got a shit-eating grin on his face and said "dayuuum boy....you've been hittin' the iron HARD! what the hell r u takin' !"

those 5 seconds made my trip. :artist:

your a fucking pussy
