Techniques for avoiding people IRL

Everybody has that annoying douchebag at work, the ugly girl that keeps flirting with you, or just shitheads in general. How do you deal with them? I usually just pull out my phone and pretend to read texts so I don't have to look them in the eye.

When I worked at the mall I used to walk slowly or quickly around certain objects so I wouldn't have to engage in mindless banter with people around the mall. I remember I rang up a girl I went on a date with and I just pretended like I didn't know her. With co-workers that were annoying I would just cut them off and walk away from them.

its simple...just refuse to acknowledge their existence. By doing this they get the clear message you want nothing to do with them which may end up making them hate or resent you for being a dick... but who gives a fuck because you don't like there dumb ass either and being a dick is fun.
